Were starting to fill our dates for this upcoming waterfowl season! Come and hunt with Team Ruffling Feather's on the Texas coast like you never have before. We run airboats in and out of the marsh. In our stretch of marsh we winter over 85% of redheads. We get thousands of pintails and wigeons here every year. Trips will be conducted in Port O' Connor or Seadrift, Tx. We have multiple packages from waterfowl hunting to cast and blast. Lodging is available. Message me for more details or call 936-671-3477. We have limited number of day's.

https://vimeo.com/67741042Waterfowl and Fishing Dreams..... To all the fellow waterfowler's, Waterfowl season is upon us once again. As it gets closer to the season opener, my team and I our preparing for one of the best season's yet, with duck number's high, cooler weather, new gear and new Team member's. There's nothing much more exciting then firing up the motor in the pre dawn darkness( whether it be the airboat or the shoal cat) and racing towards the honey hole for the day. Setting out decoys and all the talk in the blind about what the day might bring us. Then right before LST you see ducks just dive bombing in. First you hear the whistling of the wings, then you hear the splashes and not long after that you hear the ducks talking amongst there selves. Then comes the moment we all have been waiting for Legal Shooting Time. As the morning progresses we encounter redheads and pintails in groups of hundreds or more, followed by teal and wigeons. Might even get a crack at some mottle ducks as well. We pick up our spread, hop in the boat and cruise through the marsh searching for redfish and speckled trout. Find a good group of redfish sitting in a bout a foot of water. We anchor upwind and everyone gets out with a rod and bait of there choice( which I love to watch a red explode on topwaters). We make our way towards the pack of hungry reds, watching as there exploding on pods of mullet. Get within range and we start firing our baits into the hungry group of reds. Bending rods are all I see down the group. Once shoulder's are sore and stringers are full we start making our way back towards the boat. After high fiving and congratulating each other we hunker down and make our way towards the dock. While cleaning the days harvest, the group cleans up, takes showers, while a hot lunch is being prepared. This is one of many scenarios that happens when you decide to take your Coastal waterfowl and fishing dreams and put them in the hands of Ruffling Feathers Guide Service. We will strive to be the premier destination for Saltwater fishing and Waterfowl in Texas. Message us for more details on how you can get into the action with us.

News Release
August 23, 2013
Texas Sets Waterfowl Seasons for 2013-14
Canvasback bag raised for first time since 1964; possession limits increased ... AUSTIN – For the first time in a half century, Texas waterfowlers can take two canvasbacks daily under migratory game bird seasons approved for the 2013-14 by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission.
The increase comes with news of healthy waterfowl populations, with all species except pintail and scaup numbering above the long term goals identified in the North American Waterfowl Management Plan.
“Overall, waterfowl are doing quite well,” Kevin Kraai, Waterfowl Program Leader for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department told commissioners. “We’re near record levels and in some instances in the glory days for ducks.”
The commission also adopted a staggered split between the North and South Zones to allow for the opportunity of an additional week for those waterfowlers who travel between zones.
In another change to the season framework that should be welcomed by hunters, the possession limits for all migratory game birds is now three times the daily limit. For ducks, including teal during the early Sept. 14-29 season, the possession limit is 18.
The only decrease in bag limit configuration involves scaup, with a reduction to three daily. Following are the adopted season dates and limits:
High Plains Mallard Management Unit:
Youth: Oct. 19 - Oct. 20 Regular: Oct. 26 - Oct. 27 and Nov. 1 - Jan. 26 “Dusky” Duck: Nov. 4 - Jan. 26
South Zone:
Youth: Oct. 26 - Oct. 27 Regular: Nov. 2 - Dec. 1 and Dec. 14 - Jan. 26 “Dusky” Duck: Nov. 7 - Dec. 1 and Dec. 14 - Jan. 26
North Zone:
Youth: Oct. 26 - Oct. 27 Regular: Nov. 2 - Dec. 8 and Dec. 21 - Jan. 26 “Dusky” Duck: Nov. 7 - Dec. 8 and Dec. 21 - Jan. 26
Bag Limits
Ducks: 6/day 3 wood ducks 3 scaup 2 hen mallards 2 redheads 2 pintail 2 canvasback 1 “dusky duck” (mottled, black or Mexican-like) after the first 5 days All others - 6 Mergansers: 5/day 2 hooded merganser Coots: 15/day
