I told my pops to dig through his safe and look . I'll still send one even if you get a standard 6mm since marked 244 brass isn't common.

I didn't lose it. I added your list to the master list while I was at the fire station, yesterday. The round is still there, but apparently it's not on the list. Glad you caught it. I'm sure I'll have to overhual this several times, before it's done.

I can't believe you don't have 6mm-284 or .35 Whelen as of yet. I'll have to see if I can conjure up one of each without primers or powder.

Not yet, but we aint finished yet.

I'll take a live round, if that's all ya got. Other guys have sent me several live rounds. I can't decide of putting live rounds in the tumbler is safer, or polishing them on the cotton buffing wheel. Metal can get a little hot on the buffing wheel.

It would be tumbler for me. The biggest safety factor in tumbling live rounds is breaking down the powder; thus, changing the burn rate. You won't be burning any of this powder, though...

Not to take away from the OP but I'm on the fence about this as I see it no difference than ammo riding around in a rough truck all year on the farm day in day out.

Fireman I'm gonna look today in my dad's safe for the 244 stuff whether I find it or not the package will ship tomorrow.

I appreciate it!

As far as cleaning the live rounds, 7 live were put in the tumbler for a total of 2 1/2 hours yesterday evening. It just knocked off the high spots, they were so tarnished. I took them to the cotton buffing wheel to see what would happen. Viola! The brass looked brand new again. Normally I wear leather gloves, but in this case I buffed with bare hands. When the case got too hot to hold I sat it down, and picked up another one, repeat. I seriously doubt I'll have a bullet pop out with this method.

Man, this brings back memories.

Some of you folks may remember when guns and bullets weren't bad to show in public.
My brother had a display with maybe 40 or 50 bullets in it and I took it so school for show and tell in the first or second grade....LOL!

Well you're in luck I found 1 decent 244 to send your way. I'm gonna label the rounds with particulars to bullet loaded and send it.

I decided this would get away from me pretty quick. So I got all of them out, cleaned the ones that needed it, labeled each case, and cut some adhesive magnet to stick to each case head. Right now they're resting on a purlin near my reloading bench. When I build a cabinet for them I'll dado a groove, screw in a strip of steel and set the cartridges on the steel. That way as I continue to recieve more I can adjust things. The label that is on the case won't be visible, I'll rotate that to the back, and label the shelf below the cartridge.

If the case has the same bullet diameters, they touch, when a case moves to the next size up, there is a gap.

.17 to .25 cal

.264 (6.5mm) to .30 cal

8mm to .50 cal

From .17 Mach II to .50 BMG is 44" long.

JG,

You might check the diameter of your "223" - it looks like it may be about 6mms. up

I'll put a caliper on it. It very well may be. Very good possibility I made a mistake somewhere. That's a bunch of cartridges to sort through!
