My wife is 5 months pregnant and an amazing shot. But she is scared of going dove hunting with me cause she is afraid of it doing damage to the babies hearing..... anyone ever heard of this? or anyone have a wife hunt while they were pregnant? Thanks

My mom shot competitive skeet with me in the womb almost up until birth...I would ask your wifes OB/GYN and see what he/she says...with all that fluid and "insulation" I can't see it being an issue? but, again, i am no Doc!

My wifes in the same stage. I second the OBGYN question, but I bet the heat will slow her down before anything else.

The amnionic fluid works as an amplifier so I would caution on any loud noises. I would also advise to consult with her Doc.

The fluid is NOT an amplifier.
I hunted when pregnant, baby was born in Dec. I used shotgun & rifle. Getting out & about will do her good. Just if she hunts, dont do alot of climbing or anything that can cause falls or jars. Besides thats she AND the baby will be fine.
It would only harm the babys hearing IF it was OUTside mom.

Not a big deal, unless you’re hunting with our VP. Wasn't that the best example of " Good Ole Boy's ", you ever seen? The VP accidentally shoots one of his best friends. The friend, being another " Good Ole Boy ", knows it was a accident and blow's it off. End of story!
Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

My wife is 4 months along and we were just talking about this like 5 mins ago. She is going to check with the OB just to make sure everything is cool for deer season.

My wife is 6 months along, and she is going to bow hunt this season. Got her a pop-up blind so she isn't climbing up and down the tripods... She is however skipping the dove hunting this year, but that is mainly because of the heat.

I've been shot 3 times and never had to talk to the Law about it. Had to go to the hospital all 3 times. It was a accident is usually all it takes.

Sounds like you need new hunting partners.

We have enough youth. How about a fountain of "smart"?

Shouldn't be a problem. I hunted up until my 9th month and our son's hearing is just fine.

My wife shot competitively and was very active otherwise. Doc told her to do what she had been doing, including shooting, running, working out, etc...he did change some of her weight training, but didn't even stop that.
He was a good doc, had some great ideas. He said, and we followed thru, our son never had solid food until he was a year old....none. He was always off the top of the growth charts, never had a food allergy or issue. I don't guess it stunted his growth...he's 6-2 215 at 18 now.
He also told us how to get the kid to sleep all night....during the day, his "juice" bottles were half mountain dew/water...until after 4pm, then half gatorade/water.....was sleeping 8-9 hours straight....wonderful

My wife is about 30 weeks along and did a lot of research and talked to her doc about dove hunting and archery also and he gave us a green light on both. He said to wash hands with cold water after handling shells and now I get to pick up the shells after shooting from the lead in the shot. She shoots a 20 guage. She doesn't shoot a whole lot right now, but she enjoys going out.
