Hey all - Link to video comparison of digisight scopes 550 vs 750 This video is meant to show the difference in image quality between the n550 (released in 2010) to the new n750 (released 2013). Basic Feature differences:The n550 features: Fixed 4.5 magnification Offset black and white reticle via push button Downloadable reticles and customization IR illuminator RCA line output to recorder The n750 features: Fixed 4.5 magnification 1.5x digital zoom via push button Fixed black reticle with red / green center dot via push button Downloadable reticles and customization Laser Class 1 eye safe illuminator with graduated power output RCA line output to recorder Note: There is no option to retain the black / white reticle color offset with the n750. The RCA plug on the n750 is set further out from the scope housing allowing for a more positive lock with a connection, I was experiencing video drop with the n550 during recoil but not as of yet with the new RCA plug configuration. Pulsar's website states that image burn in is a concern with the n750's OLED display so if you are developing your own reticles this may be an issue. Conclusion from video analysis:In my experience I believe the recording quality resolution (video line output) is the same between the two versions of the scope as they share the same image sensor and CCD array. You may notice a better recorded image on the n750 and I attribute this to the laser illuminator versus the n550's infrared illuminator. The disparity in image quality is even more so when viewing the video display directly in the eyepiece. Below are screen shots from a video camcorder recording of the video display in the eyepiece. It is about the best I can do to show the quality of the image on both scopes simultaneously. N550 at 100 yards with IR illuminator N750 at 100 yards with IR illuminator N550 150 - 250 yards with IR illuminator N750 200 - 250 yards with IR illuminator N550 at 100 yards with IR illuminator N750 at 100 yards with IR illuminator N550 at 200 yards with IR illuminator N750 at 200 yards with IR illuminator Thx, BB

Hey Ben, Dave/elkbow here, where did you pick up a 750? I was using my 6.8 tonight with DVR hoping to get a group of hogs that hit the feeder last night, but they were a no-show. Thanks for the report.

Thanks for the report. @Double Naught - You're Welcome! @ Elkbow (Dave) - It is sure nice to know you are on these boards as well as others I bought my 750 from the U.S. importer, Sellmark. Last year I posted my interest in being one of the first to own the new digisight, see link: Other website link So I pre-ordered, if you will, back in August of 2012. I got more video over the weekend, unfortunately only of decoys as me and the boy stayed up late on Saturday, and like you, the hogs were a no show. BuMMer. BB

From your pics and video's the 750 looks to be severely handicapped due to not having the white reticle option. Since you have used both is that the case?

Hey iamdav -
I wouldn't say severely handicapped, but surely it is a difference if you are coming from a n550 to the n750.
The n750's center dot is quite a bit more visible yet still fine enough to not cover the target which is a plus over the n550's center dot.
Maybe Pulsar can figure out a way to bring back the white reticle and retain the red/green dot on the next version...

I am planning to order one this week and i had about ruled out the 750 because of trouble seeing the reticle over your targets. It looks to me that it makes longer shots more difficult since illumination is diminished further out. The white center dot appears easier to see in the videos, but it sounds like your saying thats not the case when actually looking through the scope. So ultimately which do you like best?

The white center dot appears easier to see in the videos, but it sounds like your saying thats not the case when actually looking through the scope. So ultimately which do you like best? The videos are recorded output from the scopes internal processor and the screen captures are camcorder recorded video from the scopes display screen. BOTH do not fully represent the full resolution of the image that a user is going to see on either the 550 or 750. These videos are something in the absence of nothing however your questions are well recieved and on point. To answer your question I would say this: If your budget is a little over 1k get the n550, you will be good to go on a moonlit night out to 200 yards. If your budget is a little over 2k get the n750, you will be good to go with NO moon out to 200 yards and up to 300 on a full moon night. And hands down the 750s display is superior between the two versions and you can control the "contrast" independently on the n750 which allows for fine tuning based on hunting environment. Let us know what you end up getting. BB

I ended up getting the n750. I found it at goblin night vision for $1650 which was only $250 more than the 550 so i figured i would go for it. (ordered just in time the next week price went up to 1750) Anyway i haven't had time to play with it mostly due to waiting for angel eyes dvr but i did find a cheap emergency external powering option. I don't know how long the battery will last but it does work. Now let me see if i can figure how to post the pic... But here is what i bought. 9v battery connector with 2.1mm plug.. 9v battery

Thanks for the update, take the n750 for a spin.
If you can use decoys as I have and see if you get the same results, or better or worse, and post what you think of the system.
I look forward to your report!

I am happy to hear the actual view through the n750 is much better than that of the n550...I could care less about the video output, as that is just fluff. Don't get me wrong, having video of this stuff is all we have to compare the two (or others) but the meat is the actual view through the scope. And hearing the view is much better through the n750 is what I expected to hear and also what I wanted to hear.
I am waiting to see how the DFA-75 does compared to the n750...it has the same internals, so if the view through my scope with the clip on DFA-75 is close to the n750, I will likely jump on that. The ability to switch from a day time weapon to a night time weapon with ease is the kicker there.

Thank you guys for helping lighten up my wallet....
Picked up a N750 yesterday at River City Armory in Cedar Creek. Good folks and they have both N550s and N750s in stock after I bought mine yesterday.
I only got a chance to boresight it with a laser but took it out late last night in the overcast almost total dark to look around. I was pretty amazed how well you can see with it. This one has 3 levels on the IR illumination but I never needed over level 1 to see quite well so I don't know if I really need external illumination.
The N750 is has quite a bit better detail, picture quality and visibility than the N550 a buddy has.

The n750 claimed two more hogs last night.
You guys are going to absolutely enjoy the scope.
I would say external illumination with the n750 isn't necessary for 175 yards and in being that the onboard laser illuminator is very useable out to that range.
I bought a new camera and took some video last night, will post this week.
I have been told by the US importer that once the n550 are gone they will not be resupplyed, they are discontinuing them.
Later,
BB

I bet, in the field it really shines and it is quickly apparent how much more sensitive to ambient light (moon/stars) the n750 is vs the n550.
My videos can only tell a portion of the story, let us know your thoughts here when you get behind the viewfinder on the differences between the 550 and 750.

Alright, went to the range today. Doing some testing I found that the contrast button makes a big difference. Also, got the scope punching holes on the bullseye at 100 yards without the zoom. Didn't even try the zoom yet, saving it for the field. Have mite results next week!
Just doing it for fun now.

Yes, the contrast also helps your daytime visibilty. Glad to hear your ringing the bullseye at 100 yards.
Keep us posted!

First video is a head shot then a neck shot on the running one my sisters attempt at a head shot. Shot a little low but we still found the guy after he went for a run My buddy shooting just under the hog. May have grazed it but no blood, hair, or anything Overall, found that the recorded video doesn't look near as good as what I am seeing through the scope. The IR Laser is way better than the light on the N550. Forgot to ever even use the zoom when hunting cause I was so used to the 4.5x lol, I'll try it next week with recording.
