I haven't hunted that area in years but back when I did hunt there it seemed the locals had most of their luck with a Q-Beam from the road.

lol that's a brand of "Spot de Lite" Wife & I hunted Sabine NF land on 11/17 & 11/18. Saw 14 doe and a really nice 9 point that didn't give much of a chance for a shot. That buck was running a doe then, so, I would estimate there should be a second rut starting in 8-10 days or so. I'll be making a meat run to the SNF during the Muzzleloader season in January. The local Wulf Outdoors Big Buck contest has a few entries, but none since Nov. 2. http://www.wulfoutdoorsports.com/contest_galleries/big_12_-_general_season_2012/

No luck this year.Got four hunts in,and didn't get anything although im half the reason because I missed three I should have had.Just have to get ready for next season, and perhaps come up with some different strategies.

Also to be fair in comparison, they didn't cost $5,000 - $10,000 a gun either...
