I killed my first bobcat today and my youngest son (5) was with me and informed me I tell him we eat what we kill. So I took a little bit of its back and battered it up dropped it in hot grease and to my suprise him and my 9 year old eat it like its candy. I got curious so I tried some and wow it was outstanding! Anyone have any other ways to prepare bobcat?

Dont knock it till you try it. People eat beaver meat(the kind that swims in water and chews on trees) and say its excellent table fare. They say its the red meat of water

Where is the bobcat link? I believe the general consensus was it tastes like chicken and is better wrapped in bacon and deep fried and eaten in the morning with a Dr. Pepper?

Besides fish, is there another animal we eat that only eats meat?

Good question! I have heard though that when they (cats) eat herbavors that they eat the contents of the stomach... "veggies" it would seem the same with fish.

Would bobcats fall into the scavenger class or do the stick to fresh killed meat? I will eat just about anything but have always made a personal rule not to eat scavengers(Carrion eaters).

I have seen them on cleaned doves, cleaned quail, and once on a hanging deer.

Meat and rotten meat

gator and rattlesnake are the only ones I can think in the US of and the "we" that eat them is certainly a limited number

I'm glad to see I'm not the only Hillbilly on here. the meat was pink (not red) and looked very much like rabbit meat to me.

I made it into chili, but didnt brown the meat first, and it ended up with the consistency of maltomeal. if I'd have browned it first, it'd have been fine.

and yes, I've eaten bobcat, and yes, I will again.

NewGulf, its good to see you here again. =P I know you got as much pleasure of watching that thread as anybody.
