Guillotine type. People think spring loaded doors catch more hogs because they can push it open. They also let hogs escape when another pushes it open. No locking mechanism.

I'm finishing up construction of a box trap. I put saloon doors on it. My preference however, would have been a guillotine door. The reason I didn't use one is that it causes transport issues. A guillotine door requires guides that extend above the trap, and I need to be able to turn mine on its side so that I can slide it into the back of my truck. I don't like a door that might hit or get caught on a hog that's just barely in the trap, which is why I used saloon doors instead of a rooter (top hinged) door. The saloon doors can still hit a hog that isn't very far into the trap, but they extend less distance into the trap. I'm not an expert, and these are only opinions. Someone smarter or more experienced might come up with different answers.
I have two unwritten rules: 1. 2.

I don't have a pic and don't know if I can explain this but use your imagination. The best I have had looks like a jail, each bar going down is longer than the trap is tall so they angle back into the trap and each one will pivot up individually. Just imagine jail bars that will move up as you walk through so no matter how wide the pig only enough move to let him in and none can get out. Hope some of that made sense.
