I've been looking at the ATN ThOR. They are just a little pricey. I have a feeling if I rented one, I'd have to buy one after trying it!

FYI - Your rental fee can apply towards the purchase of a new unit.

That's a great idea for this kind of item. Kind of a 'try it before you buy it'. Makes it more tempting.

Where are y'all located near Houston?

have you ever used the flir ps-32 system? i'm interested in getting thermal for night hunting for scanning and detecting but want to make sure i'm getting something that can detect a cat in the brush that I couldn't see with just a light, and do it on a budget.

I haven't used to PS32. Everything I have heard about the PS32 is good, except for detection range, and not being able export or record pictures or video. IMHO a Scout TS24 or TS32 would be a better choice because you can buy a 2 x extender if you want to upgrade detection range, and an external DVR if you want to upgrade to being able to record. If you buy the PS24 or PS32 you are stuck with no ability to upgrade. Hope that helps.

I dont want a scope just because its dangerous and would be hard to scan with thermal attached to your rifle....now if i had the budget id get both!

The options are endless... The LS 640 is $5,999 with a detection range of 1,200 yards according to the literature. That's amazing price-wise. Because of the FOV at 18x14 I would say its not made for scouting and is geared towards the law enforcement market. Do you care about being able to take pictures or video? If you want to be able to upgrade I would still say go with a scout so you can have the ability to add upgrades. If you don't care about upgrading and will be scouting at 500 yards and under the PS series is a great option.
Here is a great review I have ever found on flir FOV. The review is for the Flir HS series, but they have the same field of views and lenses as the scouts TS32 19mm, 19mm w 2x extender and 65mm.

The unit was wonderful and completely surpassed my expectations. Your customer service was great and I am so thankful that you were able to help
find me a available monocular.  The amount of game i was able to see was mind blowing and i will defiantly be renting in the future after deer
season.  I was able to spot tons of game and help scout for a successful fox hunt on labor day.  Prices were extremely reasonable and your service was exceptional. Thank you so much and I look forward to doing business with yall in the future.  I think in total we saw about 40 deer ( mostly does and fawns ) but a few big bucks, 30 pigs and a huge amount of armadillos and other rodents.  IT WAS AMAZING!!!!

A happy customer.
