We pay $10 per acre. We have 2000 acres so it's $20,000 per year

no clue, most of the time the fella with the angus ranch and the woman with all the steer jockeys are who we do our swapping and trading with.

With antler restrictions there are bigger deer showing up all around now. That will drive up prices too.

I dont think so. We have it divided by area with the most senior hunters choosing first. Each year we only bowhunt our own unless permission is giving to bohunt elsewhere. Then it is a gentlemans rule that a hunter be allowed to harvest a buck before others hunt his stand. Seems to work well as most hunters like their area and do not hunt elsewhere very often.

Additionally, $10.80 an acre is exceptional for San Saba and well worth 9 hunters on 1k acres. If you like seeing lots of deer just about every hunt then it is a great part of the state. The only downside is the deer seem to be smaller bodied and antlered than other parts of hte state.

Good luck in your search for a new lease.

Makes sense Txhuntr2, was just wondering. I'm not really looking for a new lease per se, I actually purchased a smaller place 4 years ago in Murray, TX (Young county)which is a little over 2 hours from the metroplex, so convenient. I really enjoy being a landowner but am finding it difficult to attract a large number of deer during shootable hours, though I see quite a bit on camera at night. Unlike the prior controversial "honey hole" posting earlier this year from "West Texas", I have only harvested one buck in my seasons; have passed on a few others. Feel free to take a look at some pics I've posted in this forum under the "Young County Report" and provide some general scoring if you'd like. Also, if you have any suggestions on how to attract more deer during shooting hours, I'm all ears to that as well. Thanks.
