Always a lot of discussion on killing 8s so I thought I would post these up. In 6 yrs, I have only put one 8 point on my do not shoot list. Never saw him again after that season. Here is hoping one or both of these guys stick around for next year and we get some timely rains this year.

140"ish 4 yr old, he was about 130" 9 pt at 3 yr old.

This guy is 3 yr old and guessing in the 130s

I have another 130"+ 3 yr old 8 pt but havent saved any pics of him. So, in the previous 5 yrs, I have put one 8 pt on the do not shoot list and I have 3 this year. It has been a strange yr all the way around.

I'd be interested to see what that 3 year old turns into. Sure has a lot of mass. Looks low to mid 130's.. I'd put the 4 yr old on the hit list for 2012/2013..

You're a better man than I am.

I have to wear sunglasses into the woods, because the deer would recognize me, an just surrender with their hooves up.

only arugment i have against keeping 8s is that extra g4 on a 10 can put 10-15 inches on an already good buck. You get rid of 8gene and let 10s breed youll be alot better off. Thats way do it on the king and it works wonders
Nice deer though

I was going through some old threads and came across this one. At 4 he remained a big heavy 8 point. Here is what he turned into 3 years later at 6.5. At 5.5 he put on a G4 on his left side and the split G2 was on the right side. At 6.5 he was basically a mirror image of the previous year. He scored 162 and change.

Yes, I think people get to hung up on points vs age instead of looking at frame size. I want a deer with a big frame given every opportunity to show me what he has even if he only has 8 pts. So many plans would have taken that deer out when he was 4.5 because he only had 8 pts.
