Depends. Just hunting around here? Military surplus is the way to go. Hunting in the mountains? Some thing light weight. Extremely light weight.

I have a game winner from academy that was way under 100 and I really like it. It's got a camel back and other features. I agree. I have one you can carry you rifle or bow on. I used it for my bow when scouting and setting up the pop up blind. I had to cross a creek about thirty feet wide over a log and when cinched down good there is not very much wobble. Has a waist strap with zippered pouches, a spotting scope pouch and various other compartments. Carries more junk than you could think of.
