Well looks like we started off the month of May on a good note. Customers finished up their 5 hour trip yesterday with 42 blues and 5 hybrids in the box. They released a 20 lb. blue cat, 5 channel cats and 6 sandbass. The grand total came out to be about 280 lbs of fish caught. The keepers made 6 gallons of catfish fillets and 2 gallon bags of hybrid fillets (on the half-shell).

School is almost out and it's time to get those kiddos out on the lake. The blue cat bite is changing a bit, but we're still catching some qualiy eating size fish. The channel cat bite is going strong and can be caught in excellent numbers right now if you choose that option.

The unsettled weather scattered the fish out a bit on Friday and Saturday. The bite wasn't quite as fast as I'd like, but my customers still managed to put some nice fish in the box on both trips. I took Sunday off for Mother's Day to spend time with the family.

Looks like summer has set in a bit earlier than expected. Despite the higher temps, the fish continue to bite and are starting to get into a solid summer time pattern. Customers are catching excellent numbers of blue cats and channel cats when the wind blows. Calmer days make me work a little harder, but they can still be caught. I still have some weekdays open in June and a few weekend dates and plenty of weekdays open in July. Prices are $250 for 2 people for a 5-hour trip and $350 for 2 people for an 8-hour trip. Additional anglers are $75 for adults and $50 for kids 16 and under.

I had a half-day trip on Grapevine yesterday morning. The heavier the normal boat traffic had the fish shut down a bit. Customers still managed to put 29 cats and several sandbass in the box. More than enough for their Memorial Day fish fry that evening. June dates are filling in quickly and I still have some weekends left in July. Lake Lewisville Catfish Guide Reports and Photos - 6/1/12

Looks like June is off to a great start! I had Jimmy and his son Mason out Friday morning for a half-day blue cat trip on on Lake Lewisville. Jimmy has been out with me several times and brought his oldest son out to get into a bit of the action this time. Well it didn't take the young fella long to get the hang of it. He has his very first blue cat in the boat in just a matter of minutes after leaving the dock. They kept me pretty busy cutting bait, baiting hooks, taking off fish and keeping the rods in the water. About the only break I got was during the 5 minutes it took to change spots about half-way through the trip. They hit there 50 fish limit of blues in just over 4 hours and released another dozen or so before heading back to the dock.

Steve brought his dad Dale and buddy Shane out for a half day of chasing blue cats with me Saturday morning on Lewisvile. Turns out they did a pretty good job in the chasing and catching departments. They guys hammered the fish! They caught about 65 total and brought back 52 to the cleaning table. What a great way to celebrate a birthday for both father and son! I haven't heard the details yet, but there was supposed to be one heck of a fish fry last night. Thanks again Steve. Looking forward to having you guys back again sometime.

Lake Lewisville Catfish Guide Report - 6/4/12

The Brown Family joined me for a great morning of fishing on Lake Lewisville. We got off to a slow start, but rods began going down and a steady flow of eating size blues and a few channel cats began filling the box once we found some active fish. The kiddos has a blast and I think Mom and Dad did too! They finished up the trip with 52 catfish in the box in a little over 4 hours of fishing. We had a great time fishing and an awsome fish fry to celebrate mine and my father's birthdays Saturday night. We will be sure to schedule with you in the fall/spring to go after some big blues! Shane and I are already looking at weekends. Thanks again for making this trip a great one!

I have Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday open next week. The kids are out of school and the fish are biting. Great time to get out on the water and catch some fresh catfish for that Father's Day fish fry.

Lake Lewisville Fishing Guide Report - 6/8/12

Mark brought the family out Friday for a morning of blue cat catching with me on Lake Lewisville. We found some fish right out of the gate, but couldn't convince many of them to bite. We made a move and located another school of fish. Got set up and it was "Fish On"! They had fish coming in the boat faster than I could cut bait and get more rods back in the water. Madison had the big fish of the trip with a nice 10 lb blue cats. We took a couple of photos and released it for some other lucky angler to catch on day. They wrapped up the 5 hour trip with 54 eating size blues in the box.

Lake Lewisville Catfish Guide Report - 6/10/12

Gary brought his son Christian and buddy Rick out for a graduation celebration catfishing trip on Lake Lewisville. After a really late night before the trip, these young fellas we worn out by the time they got back to the dock. Final count was 44 fish in the box in just 5 hours of catching. Rumor has it, they fell asleep in the truck before Gary even got back on the highway heading for home. Here's a photo from Sunday's trip.

We had a good day on the water. A little breezy but that kept the temps comfortable and the boat moving. The two boys had never caught fish like that so for them it was a first as well as a fun day. Not to mention 17 meals of fish in the freezer. Thank you sir! I'll be back.

Lake Lewisville Fishing Report - June 13, 2012

Matt and his daughter were scheduled to fish with me Wednesday morning. Early morning thunderstorms kept me off the lake and catching bait before sunrise. We let the storms pass through and decided to start at noon. I made quick work of filling up the bait box, picked them up at the dock and headed out to see what the afternoon would bring. The action started out fast and furious. The father/daughter duo had 2 fish in the boat before I had 6 or 7 rods in the water. They caught several more fish before the bite slowed down and changed a bit. They finished the trip catching close to 40 blues including a new personal best for the young angler that weighed 8-1/2 lbs and brought back 32 to the cleaning table.

Lake Lewisville Catfishing Report - June 14, 2012

I had 3 generations in the boat on Thursday morning. Jason brought his dad and 2 sons out for a morning of catching blue cats. The fish were running a bit smaller than lately, but the action was steady. They ended the trip with 34 blues and 3 channel cats in 5 hours of fishing. Can't wait to have you guys back again later this summer.

I'm taking this weekend off for my daughter's birthday party and to spend time with my family on Father's Day. You guys have a safe weekend. Happy Father's Day to all of the dads and dads-to-be out there!

Lake Lewisville Catfishing Report - 6/18/12

Got the Summer Time Blues? Blue cats that is. These folks came all the way out from Tahoka and caught enough for a BIG West Texas fish fry. About 170 lbs of fish in 5 hours.

No need bumping without at least a photo or two of some happy folks with some fresh catfish to take home for dinner. These fellas got July started off with a bang! Happy 4th to all of the folks here on the THF.

July is filling in quickly. The only weekends I have left are the 22nd and the 29th. Plenty of weekdays open the second half of the month. Lake Lewisville Guided Catfishing Trip - 7/6/12

Here are some photos from Thursday's trip. 30 blue cats making 3 gallon bags (+/- 25 lbs of fresh catfish fillets) to take home in just 5 hours of catching. These fellas wanted to learn some different techinques on how to locate and catch blue cats at different times of the year and under different conditions. Some things are working a little better than others right now, but they have the knowledge to catch them year round now. And they still brought back a gallon bag of fillets each. Steve hooked into a monster that he couldn't turn. The fish kept taking drag and just came unbuttoned. Sometimes even I have to tell about the big one that got away. The poor fella was speechless for about 5 minutes afterwards losing the big fish. I still have plenty of weekdays available for July, but spots are filling in fast. Lake Lewisville Fishing Guide Photos - 7/12/12

The catfish bite was a bit slow Thursday morning, but the sandbass catching made up for it in the bottom of the 9th. The guys added an extra 31 fish to the box in about 30 minutes. Plenty of dates open for August. Just enough time to get the kiddos on the water one more time before school starts back up. Customers caught another tailgate full of catfish on Friday the 13th. They also picked up a couple of bonus hybrids on this trip. I still have some weekends open in August and already booking trophy blue cat trips for fall and winter (Thanksgiving week and over Christmas Break).

Had another instructional trip on Lewisville Sunday morning. This husband/wife duo wanted to learn a bit on how I locate and catch catfish. Now they can go out and use the same techniques to load their own boat.
