This is probably a story where "you had to be there" to appreciate it. I was fishing with 2 buddies...one is DEATHLY afraid of snakes. I mean...he will kill you if you come at him with a snake! Anyway...we're done fishing on a private pond..having a cold one or 6...snake buddy's on the cell phone blabbing about the fish we caught, while I'm on the dock with my other friend....when a sign from heaven comes swimming by...a 5' water snake. My friend immediately reads my mind and says, "DON"T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!" By that time my spinnerbait hit 18" past it, and I had a solid hook-up. Friend Number 1 now makes a quiet hasty exit. I make a casual comment to snake buddy, that I got one for him!...he passes that along to whoever's on the phone..and I spin around with that snake on the end of the pole and take off at him! The chair went over backwards...the cell phone went flying..and 300 lbs. of out of shape Nebraskan goes flying thru the timber. I'm laughing like a hyena..saying "HE'S GONNA GETCHA! HE'S GONNA GETCHA!" He's running into trees, I'm right on his butt with that PO'd snake. I'm laughing so hard I fall down. He gets to the truck...gets his SKS out and empties a clip into the trees above me! I'm thinking he doesn't really see the humor in this! My other friend broke up the scene and called a cease-fire. It was a classic. Snake buddy said, "I wasn't sure if I could hit the snake, but I knew I could hit the M'Fo carrying it!"

I don't think you should've taken advantage of the guy, myself. That was cruel and downright dastardly, imho.

Me and the same guy were bow hunting about 10 years ago. We were meeting up after the hunt...he was about 30 yards away and just goes into a ..I can't describe it...FIT! I thought he was having some kind of stroke. It was a big bull snake that had hissed at him. I immediately saw what I needed to do and ran over and grabbed the snake by the tail...and in my buddy's defense..it was the biggest bull snake I'd ever seen! I said, "these thing won't hurt you...he just wants to be friends...'WHY DON'T YOU PET HIM!" At that point, my buddy came to full draw (I ain't kidding) and I figured I'd strung this joke along far enough. He also gets anxiety attacks once in a while...and boy do we have fun with him then! I've often said, "If mental health is your problem, I'm NOT your answer!"
