Doing some scouting before the member gets here which should be around 11:00. The morning started off slow only seeing 1 crow. Then I had a 4.5 year old 9 come through. He didn't go to the feeder. He's out on the prowl. About 5 minutes later had 2 does come running through being chased by a 10 and an 8. They were about 225 yards away. They disappeared. Then about 15 minutes later, a young 8 went to the feeder for a few bites of corn and then he went looking for does. Haven't seen anything since and my fingers are freezing. Nice cold morning

Just had a nice 8 with broken off brows come through chasing a doe fawn. They got within 40 yards of the blind. Took some pics and video. Got a 2.5 year old 6 coming this way from a drainage ditch 100 yards away. Things are def. picking up

The 6 pointed bedded down. A young 8 came up to him and puffed up. They tickled their antlers together. The 8 then walked off. He keeps looking back in the brush. Oh my lord, a doe comes busting out of the brush with 5 or so bucks on her tail. Biggest was a 140" 10, smallest was a spike. Wow. They are chasing her all over.

Here is the 8 from earlier

This is crazy. A big 8 which was part of the "train" came back out to the feeder. He looks up in my direction and here comes the doe right in front of the blind being chased by 4 bucks. The rut is on for sure. The big 8 came within 20 yards of the blind chasing that hot doe
Here are the young bucks which were sparing

Sure wish I was hunting this weekend but I Christmas shopping instead .will be there on Monday night and hunt all week out by lake Cisco. Do you think the rut will still be on come Tuesday morning. I sure hope so haven't seen any bucks worth shooting only spikes. So what do you think will it still beyond come Tuesday?

Until most if not all breedable does are bred and settled, the rut will be on. With 5 bucks following one doe, I would have to believe that only a few does are in. Next week, the rut will still be on and probably next month. The intensity as far as numerous numbers of does coming in may not be there, but if one unbred doe is in your area and bucks get a whiff of her, the rut is on.

Had 2 more hot does come running through with young bucks running at full speed and grunting away. I think the young 8 just walked through trying to pick up a scent trail. The morning started out slow, but wow, it has turned into a great morning full of excitement.
Here is the 8 that came back in. I grunted at him and got him to stop

The 8 in the pic above just came back out and is at the feeder. He's got a bad limp on his front left leg

I haven't seen anything in a while and I gotta pee. I need to get the bunk house ready to go for NTX270. He should be here in a couple of hours. I'll keep this thread updated on each hunt if I have cell reception in the blind we sit in. Boy, this morning was a blast. Wish photobucket mobil allowed you to upload video. I got some small clips of those bucks chasing that doe.

We have arrived in the blind at 3:43. It's a little on the windy side. Time to sit and wait

I hunted this morning, didn't see a thing so I got out of the stand around 9am to do a little work, check cams, etc. Drove back in town since it was getting so warm. Told my wife I'd likely take a break from hunting this weekend and came to the office for a bit.

Got a call as soon as I got here about the deer chasing like crazy right now at my place. Told them the same thing I posted above about my morning and got the response "they seem the busiest in the middle of the day".

Guess I'll go home here in a bit and break the news to my wife that I'll be back out in the stand tomorrow.

Close to Ranger. I'll post pics tomorrow morning. Jason shot a management buck. He didn't care about antler size. So we got a great 3 year old with short tines. The buck will taste great which is exactly what he was looking for. Now we are looking for some does. Pigs better not show up

Had a broken up 2.5 year old 8 come in and check the feeder. He was searching for doe scent trails. Grunted in a 120" 8 to with in 10 yards of the blind. A spike just came in to get some corn

Just had a big 12 come in but had broken/small g5s. He almost fought a 2.5 year old 8. Here is the buck from last night. NTX270 wanted a good management buck for the freezer and got it. He made a perfect shot with his new Savage 270
