Just wondering because probably half or more of the bobcat mounts I see make the bobcat look retarded in the face.

I have only shot one bobcat, and decided to go for a euromount instead of the full body that I want cause im afraid to spend the money and hate it. Sadly I had stuck it's head in an anthill for the cleaning and something stole the head from me.

But we got on a new lease this year and have seen some nice bobcat tracks near where my stand is gunna be, and plan on trying to bag another one this year. Just really hoping to find a taxi that I know wont jack it up.

I had the same fears, but went for it anyway. I went with with Flagg in Dallas. I'll post pics in Jan-Feb when I get it back. I saw some they had there and they looked great. Ladytaxi on here does real nice ones too from the pic's I have seen. She seems to be able to put an expression on their face that looks perfectly real.

Congrats Tanner yours came out great! I think I will definately be contacted LadyTaxi when I get my next one.

And Brother inlaw you are right, it always seem to be the eyes that are jacked up.

Even though I do solely birds I have been in a lot of shops around the country and the one animal that either looks fantastic or like crap is the bobcat. The face and accurately depicting that is something I've only seen happen a few times. Next in line would be the fox in my eyes.

Yes, cats (of any species) are the hardest to achieve a natural facial expression, in my opinion. The reason i think this is..is because of the facial structure and natural slant of the eyes. A cat has a shorter 'snout' and a slant about the eyes that is just not present on other mammals. If you have not studied these features in depth, they are hard to recreate. Most other mammals have a roundness about the eyes, and a longer snout to help balance out the overall look..

I agree with AAR, after the cat would be fox in difficulty. Although they have the longer snout, foxes are unique in the canines because they too, have a larger degree of slant in the shape of the eyes.

All taxidermists have their 'challenge pieces '. Some may do birds that look so real you can hear their calls, others may do whitetails so well you can almost see them breathe. However, give those same people a cat..and they may find it a bit more difficult to achieve the look they are after.

Personally, my 'challenge piece' are birds... i can do cats, fox, and other mammals well..however i am quite envious of all the beautiful birds that are posted here smile

I would be happy with how yours came out, let me show you the normal for what I see of bobcat mounts:

That isnt nearly the worst I have seen, just one that I think looks bad.

I dunno who did this one, but I think it is the finest bobcat mount I have ever seen honestly:

I am unable to post pics of our work here (I tried), but if you go to our website and click on gallery/lifesizes you can view our cats. We are getting better with each cat mount we do and we do a lot of them. I agree with Sheila, hey girl how are you doing?, cats and foxes are one of the hardest species to get the facial expressions right.

Not bad billington, I am really impressed with the snakes yall have done. I am always on the lookout for rattlesnakes but I have somehow never came up on one unless it was a tiny baby rattler.

I had a friend get a bobcat back from Flagg in June. The thing looked absolutely awful!

While I agree with the comments made concerning the ‘bobcat mount’ – here is my opinion- for what it’s worth. I think the reason so many people notice bad cat mounts is because bobcats are so closely related to the typical house cat. Most everyone has grown up with house cats either in the backyard or even inside their house – and this makes the average person “more educated” when it comes to references, etc… This allows the average person to be able to tell the differences of how a cat should look and able them to properly compare it to a poor or good mount. A taxidermist’s capabilities rely on their anatomy education and their level of talent. I have mounted all types of cats from bobs to leopards to mountain lions to african lions, and they are all based on an understanding of anatomy, just like a deer. I feel that if more people grew up with deer in their backyards or in their house, then they too would realize just how many bad deer mounts there are out there. Just giving my opinion.

Wayne and Sue Miller of Waterford Michigan (WILD LIFE ARTIST STUDIO).

I've had them mount a couple animals before they decided to no longer accept custom work.

For the past several years they only create and sell mounts for their eBay store.

Without a doubt, they do exceptional work.
