Anyone ever hunted with one? Made one? Any opinions at all?

Yep. The magnets work better IMO, but you need at least 4-5 of them to have any effect.

I had an old one that was made from a herters decoy that had a full size quiver magnet inside of it.
It was good, it would shake all over the place.
Most of the ones you buy now don't do much.

I ask because I had never heard of it until after I made one. I'm new to waterfowl and will be doing a ton of it this year. I made it out of a weasel ball and an old deke. Works pretty sweet. Doesn't make those little tiny fast ripples, it kinds rocks and creates a slower but bigger ripple. So far I have only ran it in a big cooler, when I take it to a pond I think I'll video record it and would like opinions from you guys.

Its an $8 kids toy. Just a plastic ball with a small motor inside that runs off one AA battery and it has a "weasel" attached to it that looks like its being pushed by the weasel instead of the ball pulling the weasel. Google "weazel ball", should bring up something.

Does it rattle around and make noise inside the deke?

do you de-weasel the ball before you stick it in the duck?

I cut a square hole in the top of the deke and filled it up with expanding foam insulation filler and let it fully expand and dry. Then I cut out the foam to where the ball squeezes in and won't rattle but I put a small strap of nylon under the ball for removal.
Yes, I de-weaseled the ball. Its simply held on with the same piece of plastic that holds a price tag on a t-shirt or something.
BTW- "de-weasel" needs a place in the dictionary.

I have a couple quiver butts, but prefer my bilge duck. It provides enough motion for me

The ball should run a few hours on one AA battery. I really am not sure because when I had one as a toy for my sons we never ran it for more than about fifteen minutes at a time.
TreeBass--- There is no water on my duck camp because of the oil fiasco (thanks BP!!!!!) but I will get some pics and short videos before too long.

I'd ask him if he's pregnant. He missed a s__tload of periods. I'll take "things that look like a uterus" for $200 Alex.

Yeah, if there is no wind and glass, those quiver butts work great.
