Does anyone know if there is a commercial made axis deer call to imitate the male axis bellowing. Or does anyone have any luck with any other types of calls when hunting axis?

I have been looking into this myself, and have found little info on axis vocalizations. Most compare or refer to elk and red deer.I have found however, mention of people using an elk cow call and found this video. I think that's whats used here . I plan to try it after more field time w/ axis.Does anybody know where to find a data base w/ axis vocalizations?I,m looking for audio samples( prefer free&on line ), will take what I can get. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZG6GeCJgiRg With some hunting situations obviously calling axis is totally unnecessary, yet somethings should not be taken for granted.Learning to call axis, imo is just adding to the hunt.

Best attractant is the sound of corn being flung out.

You'll get some. They are abundant, especially on a paid hunt.
Make good eats though.
Theres a small herd of about 250 on the Flying L ranch up here around Bandera.
The wife and I went to put a real estate sign up and I couldn't believe my eyes.

If you show up with a call you might get a funny look from the guide.

yea we just throw corn out of an empty tin can and it works grrrreat. i feed manually around my ranch. i dont use feeders. They have gotten use to me. I typically see around 40-50 axis during my feeding time at 3:00. Check out the video on the home page of our website. You'll see a few axis there. www.donihoobucks.com
