How does one decide what weight broadheads to use? I just ordered my 1st crossbow and am very excited, but need to get it all set up.
What weight do you use? Why?

Generally you will get better accuracy with a 125 from a crossbow than the lighter weights. I do not use below 125gr broadheads on a crossbow. weight forward helps with arrow/bolt flight as well as accuracy and penetration

With the higher speeds of a X box, I'd go at least 125. I'd use a strong fixed blade.

I use 125gr G5 Montec in my crossbow. Have thought about going to 150s but those 125s do 3 inch or about that at 70 yards so for a X-bow good enough. Same bolts and 100gr Montec or slick trick and look for groups at least 2X that

Using these Broadhead and they are good, 125gr is usually preffered, as if its heavier projectile drops and if its lighter aim is not so accurate.

We’ve killed 5 deer with my ten point, shooting rage crossbow 125. None of them ran more than 40yds
Arise.Kill.Eat -Acts 10:13 I have read a bunch of stuff on the internet about Star Wars but that does not mean I can skin a deer with a light saber.

http://www.pinwheelsoftware.com/sfa.aspxI use that program to select arrows, point weight, arrow length, insert weight, etc for my compound bows. It makes sure the spine is right for the selected components.

3 black bears in last 10 months using 100gr Montec G5. Grouping has been 2.5" at 25 yards. Bears were 11, 14 and 18 yards. Moving out past 40 yds, I'd go with 125s.
