Probably need to edit that... I’m guessing you want to know about people’s personal experiences on truck they have actually owned... probably a good idea to leave the GM gasoline off the list. The 6.0 is a great engine with less than 10,000 lbs behind it.
Never been to a camping world. I prefer Dick's to be honest.

But like Lefty said, it’s done at around 10,000 pounds unless you like to drive slow.

I had a dodge 2500 6.4 powerwagon, I bought it to tow, it was OK with my boat but has that eco mode and I would have to manually shift or put in tow to keep it from going into eco and shutting down on cylinders to save gas. I didn't buy the truck to save on gas. I traded it in after 6 months and got a dodge 2500 diesel, best decision I could have made.

I've got a 2015 6.4L 2500 crewcab Ram with 3.73s. It pulls a 35' bumper travel trailer jut fine. It will wind up on hills with the trailer. Our dealer said to let it wind, it was designed for that. I had an 08' 6.7 diesel before, it pulled a little easier on the hills and of course the exhaust brake was nice. I get about 15-17 mpg on the high way empty and about 8-9 pulling the trailer. YMMV. The econ mode comes and goes when the truck is empty, I'm not bothered by it at this time. I have 74K miles and all it's had is service work on. Good truck in my experience.

It was a very nicely equipped Power Wagon, 12,000 miles, I just couldn’t get over the $49,900 price tag for a used gas truck. Only thing it has that I really wanted was the electric lockers.

What do you need the truck to do? If your not dragging something big and heavy i'd buy a 1/2 ton.
I wouldn't dream of doing it all the time, but I also wouldn't hesitate to hook 10k to the back of any of the properly equipped 1/2 tons for occasional use either.

I have several 6.2l F350's & one F250. The 350's are work trucks, 185,000 ~ 344,000 miles. All have had carrier bearings & u joint replacement, 2 had front wheel bearing replacement, 2 have had alternators, 2 others water pumps & thermostats, 1 radiator, 1 a/c compressor dryer & condenser & hoses, 1 had the rear end rebuilt the rest just routine maintenance & normal wear items. Of course the one with the highest miles has had the most work, bought it used with no maintenance records. 2 I bought used, 3 new - 6.2l fleet average mpg = 10.18. The F250 is my daily driver, all miles & driving conditions combined mpg = 13.58. 6.2l / 4:30 Hauls all sorts of stuff & pulls gooseneck with all sorts of stuff tractor, hay, livestock frequently. Nothing other than routine maintenance & wear items. The 3:73 ratio will get better mpg empty/lightly loaded, but you give up a very noticeable amount of towing/hauling ability. With 4:30's the faster you go past 65mph the mpg will suffer, but they pull / haul great. Cab, Bed & overall configuration all make a difference, best to review the ---> Ford towing gude

WHY ARE YOU YELLING? (all caps)
I would think pulling 10k+ on a regular basis would always work in a diesel's favor? Love my '14 Mega Cummins.

I HAVE 11500 5TH WHEEL DONT PULL IT MUCH AND NOT THAT FAR I know many will scream and call you crazy but depending on what much and far are I would probably still consider a 1/2 ton. A f150 with the heavy payload option is a whole lot more truck than your average run of the mill 1/2 ton and 1/2 tons in general aren't what they used to be.

I’ll never understand why people buy 1/2 tons. A 3/4 ton that’s equipped similarly will not cost much more and most of the parts that wear a stronger AND a 3/4 ton typically holds its value better.

I had 3 half-ton trucks between diesels
I honestly didn’t even like pulling my bay boat down to the coast from SA with them. My 5.4 liter didn’t even like having a empty 18’ pipe trailer behind it.
None of these were heavy loads. No where near max rated for the trucks
I pull a 4K trailer about 4-5 times a week most weeks, anywhere from 60-200+ miles round trip. I would HATE to pull this load with a 1/2 ton. No, it’s not really heavy but it’s heavy enough imo to warrant a stouter truck than a 1/2 Ton. I got the diesel because I wanted the extra power. I’ve heard good things about the 6.2 liter but I think I made the solid choice by going with diesel.
Yes, 1/2 Ton trucks are not wht they used to be, but neither are the 3/4 tons.
It does not cost thst much more to operate a diesel and you recoup the additional upfront costs when you sell/trade in. You will always be able to find a buyer for a higher mileage diesel.
And with the price of trucks nowadays, my 4x4 diesel was literally only a few grand more than a gas 1/2 Ton thst I was looking at originally
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

I'm about to be in the market for a new truck and am considering a 3/4 ton. Only tow/haul big loads 1-3x per year but when I do it maxes out my Ram 1500 suspension. Motor, tranny and brakes seem to do fine.
I can't wrap my head around the $9k additional cost of the diesel. Would have to drive 300k+ to "save" money with better fuel efficiency. A new 1/2 ton the way I would want it would be $53-55K while a gas Powerwagon is only $57k. I prefer to buy used but price differences are similar.

Ford needs to echo boost a big block V8 with a 10 speed trans and .430 gears. This is America no the UK or EU.

If I was commercially driving or a hot shot driver or really used it a lot monthly or so I would see your point. We towed a 7,500 lb travel trailer for years with a 1994 chevy 1500 and it lasted 265k miles and sold it running fine. Todays 1/2 tons are 2 times the truck that was easily. I wouldn't want to tow it far or every day or even every month but it sounds more like the OP has a 5th wheel parked at a campground that might not even move every year, doesn't sound like a great reason to buy a 3/4 ton and he could save 5 mpg with a 1/2er.

I have about 61k on a 4x4 2500 6.4 gas motor. First gas motor since 1999. Its plenty stout to pull my 921 Phoenix bass boat and whatever I put on my low boy trailer. Rides like a log wagon and get about 15. Good truck for a tall guy.
Wheel wells are so large I was able to put 34 inch tires on mine without a lift and it doesn't rub.
I like mine. My last two truck have been Dodge's. I have 2005, 3500 4x4 in the driveway with 71k original miles on it, 5.9 Cummins.
Thanks, Billy

Define "Tow" Did you pull it doing 60-65 mph or were you on the shoulder doing 45? I was stuck behind a person pulling a medium size bumper pull with a ford explorer the other day. We never hit more than 50 mph. IMO that is not "towing"

I have the RAM 2500 6.4L with 35K miles. No issues yet, regular oil changes etc. averages right at 15.5MPG or if I baby it, 17MPG.
