Hey all, B-I-L and I are looking at booking a hunt for black bear, wolf or mountain lion. Due to budget most likely will be just a targeted hunt for one of them, but definitely open to springing for a combo hunt for the right value. I've looked a lot online, but thought I'd pop over and see if anyone has any recommendations on outfits they've hunted with. If anyone has any places I should check out I'd love to hear about them. I've seen a lot of bear/wolf hunts up north, but it seems like most of the wolf hunts are add ons if you happen to see a wolf, and we kind of would like to put some effort in on the wolf side if we do a combo hunt. Look forward to hearing about some good leads. Open to anywhere in the US or Canada.

Contact Terry Kluke at Merckle's Camp in Ontario. http://www.merkelscamp.com/ontariosportsfishinglodge.htm

He specifically targets for both bear and wolf (so wolf is not just an add on). He's a laid back down to earth guy, this would be what I call semi-guided, does not include meals. His lakeside cabins are clean with full kitchen/bath. Also has a neat off the grid outpost cabin but you really need a larger group (6-10). I've stayed at both. He works hard at putting his hunters on active game sites. He baits locations bear or wolf and takes you in the first time but then you are on your own to travel in/out, he retrieves, capes and freezes your game. Great fishing can be added for after your hunts. I was there in Sept (took a 400 black bear) and just got back a couple weeks ago with a 470 bear. I have trail cam pics of larger bears from my hunts and saw a couple bruisers but they did not present within bow range. Wolf season runs Sept to March 30. Bear is spring (he does May 1-June 15 and fall (Aug 15 to mid Oct). However, I know he is booked up through 2019 with no bear permits remaining (you buy Canada tags OTC but have to have a conservation permit from an outfitter). CA Ministry of Natural Resources just recently change some laws on bears and some changes are still to be announced. Going to CA is well worth it, not very expensive and easy border crossing at International Falls, MN. Easy flying or driving.

We have a great mountain lion guide in Laramie, he took some monster cats last winter. Shaymus Wyman is his name.
Mt lions are hunted in winter with good snow cover, bear season is long over here for that. We do have some wolves running around now too, but few and far between.
Mt lion hunts can be grueling, following dogs over rough terrain and through deep snow. Most lion dogs are tracked with gps now but still, be in good shape.

Sounds like for a combo a wolf/mt lion hunt might work. Bear season is early in fall, cats are not very furred up by then.
Wyoming cat tags are OTC in Wyoming but we do have quotas on them.
The Canada option sounds good for wolf/ bear.

If you are targeting black bear it’s hard to be Canadian spring bear hunts in Manitoba Canada. They hunt over bait and success is very high. I booked mine through a hunt brokerage Hosted Hunts. A guy on here with the handle Brettm posts on here frequently. He can hook you up.
