Gun is a Tikka t3 lite .223 - 1in 10 twist - will be shooting 55-62 grain-looking at 400-500 yard max. Gun shows outstanding accuracy so far in the 1-2 hundred range - time to stretch it out a little

function: lite walking varmint & something to burn up all the extra 223 ammo around the house in a somewhat productive manner.

scope price - up to 1k range(glass and function over price point)

scope weight - as little added to gun as possible

Do not really want to spin turrets unless absolute have too. elevation and windage offset markers needed weather its mil/mil or something else( again function first)

Illumination- nice to have if scope is good enough for low light shooting

some kind of 223 specific Glass like the Nikon m223 but want more mag than 3x9x40

thanks hetman

I agree that a Swarovski Z3 would be a perfect scope to go with

Curious why you want a .223 specific scope? Do you want it for the BDC marks? If so, you can pretty much do the exact same thing with a mildot reticle especially if you end up with a ffp. If you can get past the .223 specific factor, you have 100x more options.

Unless the scope is calibrated to the exact ammunition you are using then being caliber specific does you no good. Caliber specific scopes are a marketing gimmick IMO.

SWFA 3-15 wouldn't be a bad choice. It's a touch on the heavy side but you wanted more mag than 3-9. Not .223 specific but a great scope that meets all your other criteria. Another option would be the Vortex PST 2.5-10. Although not that much more mag than 3-9, it has illumination.

ok I can live with mil/mil thanks so far for the suggestions

Looking at: Nightforce NXS 2.5-10x42 c461 in very good condition with Mil-R reticle, .1 mil turrets, zero stop, and ptl

I ran that scope for year hunting, very nice scope, just be aware that the reticle is a bit on the thin side for low light, but you have the illumination.
