Does anyone know how long it takes for the notifications to happen. I know the deadline was Sunday and it says they normally do the drawing on the first business day after the deadline. This is our first year doing the post card draw and I was wondering how long the notification process takes? Thanks!

I just checked my status. It looks like they did the multi species draws already but not the waterfowl. Maybe they will draw them later today.

Yeah, it will say "not selected" or "pending 2nd draw" if you're not picked.

I know that if you call the WMA in question that they will answer your question.

I don't understand why they would wait til the middle of duck season to draw some of those hunts. Kind of makes planning difficult to say the least.

Whats the main difference in the draw hunt and any other day when Keechi is open to APH hunters?

I don't know. I didn't know it was open for daily hunting. I don't live in the area. Just applied for the first time this year.

Great point though. Maybe on the postcard dates it isn't open for general public and only open to the postcard winners.

Have you hunted there before?

I know they area and know its under APH but like the other wma they will shut it down to the public for the draw hunt winners... im just betting theres more to it.. like extra access or something similar

I could be wrong... but looking through the options available, I don't think waterfowl hunting is allowed this year at Keechi Creek this year unless you go through the E-postcard option...

Keechi has never been wide open for APH hunts

For anyone who's interested. This was the response I was given to the following question after the initial response posted above...

Thanks for the response. Any indication why they aren’t drawing until these dates? It makes planning difficult when they aren’t going to draw a couple of the ones I applied for until right in the middle of duck season.

Good Afternoon,

I believe they wanted to make sure that they were still going to have the hunt due to habitat. Most units have not had enough rain so they are not sure how many hunters or groups these areas can support at this time. That was the reason for the delay. We apologize about any inconvenience.

Thank you,
Wildlife Information
