My son acquired one this summer, only shot it once so we are no experts!!! My suggestion is to get on u tube look at all the video's that are put out by CVA, especially the ones about smokeless powder in muzzle loaders. There is a bunch of information on those videos. Then branch out from their.

They certainly seem like they will be fun, welcome to the shooting match

Thank You
Robert

I bought a brand new Optima V2 and love it. Very accurate and a great shooter. I need to pull mine out and take it to the range. Getting to be that time of year again.

Edit: I bought it last year and 3 weeks after I got it I shot my first deer with it. He dropped right on the spot!

Find some BH209 powder and Scorpion PT Gold Sabots and you will be in for a treat for sure! Easily a 150yd+ gun.

I have one and I have settled on 100 grains of Blackthorn 209 powder and 250 grain TC Shockwave sabot. Very accurate. I also use Remington primers. As stated above the Blackthorn is much cleaner then Pyrodex.

I use 777 and power belts. I have an older CVA hunter that I just replaced with a cva wolf (thanks to Gander going out of bidness).
