I have a black / white/ orange tri color Brittany that is about 6 years old I would like to find a hunting home for. He points, backs and retrieves but needs work on his retrieve if you want him to be good at it. The only reason I am getting rid of him is he hunts too close for us (we hunt out of a Mule). he would be perfect for a foot hunter. He is up to date on Vaccines.

Also, he has always been an outside dog, he lives in a 10' x 10' concrete kennel and is let out daily to run. He's a little long legged for a Brittany but is still a great looking dog. I want to make sure he is going to a good home and that he will get to go hunting at least a couple times a year or I will keep him. I live at Cedar Creek Lake but am in Mesquite Mon - Fri. Free to good home.

Kevin,
Can/will he find and pick up a dead bird or at least show it to you?

Oh yes, definitely. Some times he just doesn't want to let it go. I use vibe on the e collar and nick if I have to.

Will he hunt dead if you get him in the area and he hasn't seen the bird go down?

Fine looking dog! Heck of an offer. You know he's been trained right. Somebody's lucky day.

His recall is 100%, if I call him he comes and will sniff an area out, if he smells the bird, he will grab it but he will need work in the retrieve department. I don't force fetch any of my dogs, they either do it natural or they dont. He will make a good bird dog for a walking hunter.

On foot he will get out and hunt 100 yards or more but with the Mule he wants to stay right beside it or behind it. Or walking right in front of it. The Mule is the only way we hunt now so I would rather see him go to a walking hunter that will enjoy him instead of him getting left behind.

Good with both. We don't have kids but he has played with my 5 yr old nephew when he visits.

AKC registered, is intact right now but wont be for much longer if I keep him. He's never had to share a kennel, he has been doubled up in dog boxes with other males with no issues.

Can't believe he lasted overnight. A deal like that doesn't come along very often.

She's hairy all over but I love her anyway. smile

That pic was taken 5 years ago and shows her first woodcock. She really wasn't sure why Daddy was so dang happy (almost to the point of tears), but decided if Daddy was that happy then she was that happy too!

I may be wrong but I think I remember NP saying he would never put an E-collar on a dog. I'm wondering if this Britt will change his mind.

"D" did fine meeting the new girls and seems to love his new home! The girls did fine with him too. So all is well. He's a good boy with a fine disposition.

He is "all man" with them (you catch my drift) - so will keep him separated from them except for exercise time until he gets fixed. He's doing so well that will take place real soon.

Thanks again Kevin, it was a pleasure to meet you and your sweet bride! smile

It was a pleasure meeting you and your lovely bride also. Thank you for giving him a good home. Hopefully by getting him fixed, you will be able to get him fattened up a little too. I have never been able to. And he eats like a horse.
