Last time i checked they replaced the failsafe with the XP3. But now I dont even see any XP3 loaded ammmo on thier website or other websites. What did they replace this with, if they did?

If you liked those try a barnes TSX or hornady GMX, or nosler E-Tip, or a Trophy Bonded tip. They are all mono metla style bullets even thought some may have a different rear core. In my opinion they are not very good hunting bullets unless you need insane penetration through a lot of bone or you are running them light for caliber and incredibly fast in smaller calibers. There are many better cheaper hunting bullets to choose from.

Checy is absolutely correct, for deer size game and most other game there are much better hunting bullets available than monometal designs

If my memory is right the original failsafe was more of a fail than safe. The issue was the core was and jacket were not staying together. Jacket change and it was a bullet would breaking bone and keep on going. I think where they went wrong for the American market was making too tough a bullet and keeping traditional weight for loading. They had a 180 gr 308 win loading that had unreal penetration but poor expansion. More fmj results at that speed the 180 gr 300 win was much better due to increased speed. I have shot alot of the FS over the years 270 308 300win and you want to hit bone or heavy muscle to be happy, WT behind shoulder not the result you will expect. They moved to a new design but kept same weight for caliber and I think the issue of penetration over expansion continued and they moved on. Shooting the south end of a north bound hog the FS shines.....

I took them to Zimbabwe when they first came out. Shooting bait to try and hunt leopard was a cluster. Got me all jiggy and doubting myself.
