Headed down to Normangee Wednesday night to hunt one of these Red Stags. I arrived after dark and was greeted by Brian at the his hunting lodge. Brian has really set up a nice lodge that compliments his beautiful ranch. Brian hospitality was excellent as we discussed the morning hunt and got to know each other. We headed out early Thursday morning and were in the stand with plenty of time to spare. As it got lighter I could see a Blackbuck doe feeding in front of us and off to my right at the Protein feeder I could make out a few animals (Fallow and Blackbuck). As it got fully light we watched as a variety of animals made their way to the planted food plot and feeders. A young Red Stag buck was in front of us at the feeder but no older stag had yet presented itself. Around 8:45 this Stag appeared to my right by the protein feeder. I was looking for one of the younger bucks but as I continued to glass the Stag I decided that he was what I wanted. As I raised my gun I hit the side of the blind and startled the bull. I had to wait (about 5 minutes) for him to get broadside and for the two fallows to clear from behind him. Finally it all aligned and I squeezed the trigger. Everything erupted with the blast, Blackbucks one way the fallow the other. The bull stood upright and I thought that I had missed and asked Brian if I did. Brian said I dont believe so and the Bull turned and took a couple of steps and started to wobble. The next second he collapsed and expired. Brain quickly congratulated me and after a few minutes we crawled out of the blind to inspect my trophy. He was everything I could expect. Brian ranch is thick and full of animals once they get off the senderos they are a challenge to see. If you are looking for a great hunt then you need to contact Brian to get on one of these before they are gone. Thanks Again Brian
