Was out with Garrett Duvall at one of his south Texas ranched he guides for. Was a great time and some Big 8 pointers down! Video below (it is 28 mins long but worth a watch!)

Let me know what you guys think!

Way too long and shaky for the viewer. Those are middle age bucks, not mature bucks. My point being that is too rah rah for the experienced hunter. Too much of an ATN commercial. I turned it off about half way through it. Not trying to be mean, just being honest if your serious about doing more video.

So all the hunting shows you see do not promote products of the companies that sponsor them?

I do agree some of the film was shakey, we have made some upgrades to equipment that will solve most of that.

The first (dagger) buck was over 6 years old and the other two were 5 years to 5.5 years old. Thats mature in my book. lol

Thanks for the feedback. I will use it to make things better moving forward.

It definitely came across a bit amateurish.

A 218 yard shot doesn't really require a whole lot of dialing in for anyone that's shot a rifle with any frequency. The celebration crowned with "218 yards!!!" gave you away.

And seemed like a whole bunch of talking in front of the fireplace for not much substance, knowledge or actual footage. Kinda felt like I was watching myself the first time I ever got in a deer blind.

That said, you obviously had fun.

Whoever is aging those bucks doesn't know what their doing. That first buck IS NOT 6 years old.

Josh, you asked for constructive criticism, so here goes.

1. Poor firearrm handling after the shot. In your haste to get your gun out of frame, you could have had an awful accident in that stand.

2. Music over commentary in some of the live video. I'd rather hear what you're saying.

3. Your first kill scores about 85-100" and is 2-3 years old. That is NOT a solid, big, mature 8 pt.

4. During hunting season, 99.9% of deer are that year plus .5 years old. So your 5 to pushing 5.5 yrs old is misleading. Learn more about your prey.

5. On your second kill, the wall hanger, no close-ups?

6. On your third deer, "did I get him?". Really? Again, more close ups and perhaps a few stills?

7. Don't call an outfitter a professional hunter. Two completely different things.

8. I wish Mr. Duval all the best as an outfitter. He's young and will surely evolve into a "professional", but sleeping in and representing deer to be something they're not, typically means a short-lived career in his chosen industry.

9. Way too much fireside chat and not near enough in-field video. What's with the lawn chairs in the final segment. Different ranch?

10. Posture. Act and look professional, not slouching over.

11. If you want to do your sponsors a favor, go shoot some pronghorns. Compensating for crosswinds at 200 yards is nothing new. We've been doing it with fixed reticles and iron sights since before the turn of the century.

12. Tell us more about where you're hunting at the outset of your show. Where in STX? What county, what time of year? What other wildlife is prevalent in the area? What is the climate? Habitat and plant communities that benefit wildlife? Any local history? What's the weather doing and how do you expect it to affect the hunt?

All of that can be done as your introduction through video and photos in a very short segment. While you narrate.

Good luck, Josh!

Daughter bought a Javilina hunt from the Riatta people at Alpine (five ranches, restaurant there , and in Ft. Worth) at a charity auction. I would not walk across the street for a Javilina. Been there done that. Lucky me. We traded the stinking piggie for a nice guided blue quail hunt. Gracious hosts, great hunt. Win win .

Food plot looks just like my friends place. I know it is not but close enough so cool. Felt like I was there. Don't zoom in for shaky shots. Don't freak out unless it was your first deer. Deer don't look too mature to me. Hunt S. Tex enough and you will know what mature is. 190 to 225 lb 6.5 year old is mature down there. They aren't behind every bush either. It takes time in the field to observe. You will clearly see the difference if you hunt enough.

Hunting with an AR, remove magazine and cycle round out when done. They are fun but require more safety awareness to be followed.

I Feed Indian Corn. The deer love it and all the colors make them stay at the feeder longer.

Sorry, but I couldn't watch it all......nothing personal here, but:

As Pitchfork said, someone there has no clue how to age a deer, and repeating that nonsense makes you look foolish.

Mistaking a bobcat for a mountain lion....seriously?

Flying a drone around, from the blind, while hunting....?

No fan of AR's for hunting big game either myself. Makes you look like you just left Academy Sports.

This explains a lot. The hunter is obviously very inexperienced. You can tell this by his firearms handling, his inability to know a mature trophy deer from a young, 100" buck. Then add to that "professional hunter" Garrett Duvall reinforcing that these were big, mature S TX deer and I knew something was hokie with that video from the beginning. The first GIANT red flag was the rookie host hunting alone, while his "pro hunter" slept in???

Glad they got caught and I hope the law comes down on them with everything they deserve. Takes a special man to sell hunts on someone else's property. Reminds me of another guy out of Carrizo Springs years ago. Initials of RR.

Yes it did. I noticed Joseph had a group of elk hunters for a cow hunt with this guy that was suppose to be this last weekend I believe. I think they were charging 500.00 a hunter. juggle
