Going out to Bandera/Pipe Creek to hunt with BowsnRods tomorrow through Thursday. Dad and I shot the h*ck out of our already zombie target out to 40yd, all dialed in with broadheads and field points. Then when I got I home I set up the hunting arrows by sharpening blades and sticking in quivers. Dad waxed our bowstrings.
So, I'm nervous, but excited and relatively prepared. One thing I noticed was that even with only poking two holes through one animal, my Rage heads had chinks in the metal. Thankfully have new ones, but now I know I need replacement blades lol.

Update: went to my uncle's today (matpk on THF lol) and had him shoot his bow sitting and standing with my "practice" Slick Trick as well his Rage 2-blade practice heads. True flight and he's good to go as well. Only thing is that he wants to bring his 6-going-on-7 grandson as well and that little boy doesn't yet know what hunting is lol. We'll see what happens

Get them out there at that young age and keep taking them and they are more likely to stay with it later on. Go enjoy it and good hunting to y'all.

He said something today that kinda ticked me off: "What's the point of going if I'm not gonna shoot something." That is not how I was raised and if I go any further I'm gonna get on soap box so I'm done on that subject. (He gets his bird hunts in and is too busy in his Legos and video games anyways ) Thank you much; looking forward to it.

I go on one hunt to kill something. The other stuff I enjoy, yes, but to me it's not what I went for. I don't base the success of the hunt on a kill but I do base it on whether the opportunity is there. I've paid for some hunts that were just boring sits in a stand. That just frustrated me and made me see them as a waste of money and time. Pick a good outfit and do your part to be prepared and you'll be a lot closer to being successful.

On the other hand I've hunted places the kills were easy but the rest of the experience was bad thus I won't return.

Very well said. I actually agree. Only difference is that I love that feeling of nature's (God's Creation) connection as well, so that's a big reason of the hunt for me. I ended up calming down and the kid is 6 so I'll cut him some slack. I remember myself saying similar words lol in that age-ish.
