So youth weekend is finally here my 11 year old can't sleep he is so excited for the opportunity to shoot his first buck. He has proven to me he can shoot, last year he shot two doe both of which took a dirt nap! I have deer comming in to the feeder and now it's going to be 85 degrees and a stiff southwest wind! Are you guys seeing deer moving in this warm spell? Thanks THF members. I'm hoping the Bucks might want to start checking out all the ladies that show up daily?

I have been getting lots of pictures on the trail cam, but where we hunt its likely not to see a low of 60 until Christmas in South Texas/ Mexico and on our places chasing the ladies won't happen until close to the end of December. Last year I hunted Christmas eve in a T-shirt and still saw deer. They might not be as active but they will still be hungry. You just might have to fight mosquitoes but the deer will still move, maybe even more if you are hunting an area where water is scarce, even though we have had a good amount of rain this year. Long and short of it Ive had some really good hunts in warm weather. Don't get down on it and definitely don't down play the chances of seeing something to the young hunter. I tell my little guys that every time we head out it might be the time we see the Muy Grande. Have fun with your boy and good luck sir. I'll be taking my youngest out to get his first deer this year and I'm more excited about him shooting one than I am about the big ones I have on camera that I'm after.

Prepare for the gnats! When the wind died Saturday evening they tried to eat me alive.

Hoping to find them moving a bit early but will probably stay out all day just in case. It's about time for them to start moving.

We had hundreds of pics of deer, axis and whitetail but 90% of them were nocturnal. Hoping the on coming new moon will have them moving a little more during the day. Lots of pics of good bucks for the place we hunt outside Campwood.
