I received a Remington 770 308 from a friend . He said that the Bolt had gotten stuck and would not close and his nephew tapped the handle with a hammer and it broke off . I tried emailing a few gunsmith's that are in my local area about repairing the gun with zero email response back .

I guess since it's not a $800 plus rifle its not worth there time to respond to a email . I have read online that the bolt can be Tig welded back on.

I have a friend that is willing to try but I cant find any info on what Metal was used to make the bolt Sleeve and bolt handle .

Any info would be great thanks .

The two gunsmiths I know personally are old school and I doubt they even know how to use Email. Why don't you try the old fashioned way and give them a call? And if you want to find out what the bolt is made of then call Remington. The cost to weld the handle might be pretty close to what the rifle is worth.

Don’t roll those bloodshot eyes at me.

Thanks for your input . I just thought that reaching out to the Forum would be a better option and that maybe someone might have had a 770 at one point and had this problem and had it fixed by a Gunsmith they trust or maybe point me to a Gunsmith that users trust to do work on there guns .
