Link Thoughts? The fed regulated the phone carrier sales but not this...hmmm. I think it'll be a Beretta v. Benelli type deal, where BPS "owns" Cabela's but they're still separate.

"Following the closing of the transaction, Bass Pro Shops intends to celebrate and grow the Cabela’s brand and will build on qualities that respective customers love most about Cabela’s and Bass Pro Shops. In addition, Bass Pro Shops recognizes the strength of Cabela’s CLUB Loyalty program and intends to honor Cabela’s customer rewards and sees potential over time to expand the program in the combined company." As long as this holds true, this might just be a good thing. I like both, usually prefer BPS but Cabela's is closer. The release also states that Cabela's will continue to "maintain important bases of operations in Sidney and Lincoln and hopes to continue the very favorable connections to those communities and the Cabela’s team members residing there." Lot of jobs up there that I'm sure are fairly nervous right now. Hope that's honored.

I think it'll be a Beretta v. Benelli type deal, where BPS "owns" Cabela's but they're still separate. You want the feds to regulate everything, LOL? Phone is considered a utility, but sporting goods are not. There are anti monopoly laws and fair trade regulations that come into place, but Bass Pro owning Cabela's would hardly fall into being a monopoly or even close and isn't likely to be a fair trade issue either. I like Cabela's, but am not a fan of Bass Pro at all. If you want to see a scary overreaching conglomerate, check out Luxotica. If you wear eyeglasses, regardless of where you got them, they very well may be Luxotica.

If Academy doesn't have it on the shelf, I buy it online, typically on Amazon with free shipping. Seldom is the Amazon price higher than both BPS and Cabela's.
The wife loves Amazon Prime for both online books and movies. The free shipping just adds a little icing to the cake.

I feel like I was raised on BPS stuff, but the last ten years there has been a fine Cabelas near me to shop at. I'm a bargain cave troll. I've even had them special order stuff from other bargain caves for me. But I get special treatment...
