Buddy's teenager got a draw for the archery youth hunt. Anyone know particulars on the place? Good areas to hunt, how to setup? Is baiting allowed? camping overnight allowed? Do you put a board up in a tree to sit across, etc.? Thanks

i think you would get the coordinates to Jimmy Hoffa before someone gave you info on where to hunt
If I send my neighbors a text and ask them to give me feedback on my lawn and plant rye into a giant dong pattern, I'm probably going to get some less than positive feedback. Same goes here.

Call the corp's office at Lake Grapvine and they'll provide you map and add'l rules. They are friendly and helpful. Baiting by feeders is not allowed but they have said you can carry in a gallon bag of corn and throw it out. You cannot put up a permanent stand (board in a tree). Camping allowed in designated camp grounds around lake only. Best access is by pirogue/canoe.

DQ Kid, If you don't have access to a canoe and decide it's the best option for good access, I'd be happy to lend you mine in order to help this young hunter with his/her hunt.

I had a buddy who lived near there and hunted pigs in that area. Said he saw some huge deer back in there, and I've also heard this from others.

There are some big boys in there, but difficult to get in to spots. When I hunted there a few years back, I came to realize if I shot one - I would be in big trouble without a canoe.
