Has anyone set up a fake powerline in their dove field? I was reading a few online articles and it seems some people have tried this with good success. I have several old poles laying around and some cable so it wouldn't be too hard to install. Interested to hear some thoughts on this idea.

Thank you

Sounds like it would work....maybe a few clip-on decoys too....

I have read the same thing. I've even heard about putting some t post in the ground and running some cloth line rope across them with a few decoys.

Keep in mind, when you see a telephone line loaded with dove, it's not the telephone line itself that's attracting the dove, it's normally the field below it loaded with food, and the gravel on the road, etc..

It's dove decoys that will attract the dove. Simply putting up a telephone line will not attract dove. Put decoys on the line, now you are cooking with bacon. But why do a line with decoys way high in the air? Why not bring them in close? Way up high, dove are more likely to land there to roost, hungry dove (what you see in the morning/afternoon), they want to land on the ground and eat. What you want to simulate is dove feeding on the ground.

This is what I'm rolling with on the opener. Picked it up at academy....

I'm going to put one mojo on it in the middle, 2 clip on deeks on each side, and deeks right below it on the ground like they are feeding.

The dove better watch out for me! slinger

We have a similar setup with around 20 separate dove in the decoy set. That includes Mojo's etc. It should make hunting like shooting fish in a bucket because the flying dove see the crowd and want to come hang out. I am also trying to work out a dove blind setup. Last year I had petty good success sitting in tall grass about 20 yards from our decoy set. You pop up then they are about to land on the decoys and get your dinner.

The Mojo's are a setup all their own.

The ones n the ground we attached magnets to the bottom and stick them on metal nails in the ground

Playing with it in the yard has had interesting results but those are city birds.

I think it works kind of like a lone scraggly tree in an ag field.

I bought a 12 foot pipe, put a mojo on it --------- I have 3 more mojos at 4-6 ft high, , plus decoys on fence----------- the tall one brings them in from across the field.

We use the fence for the decoys. Where there isn't a fence I use a long thin stick of rebar held up by 3 poles(2 are in the pic) and put mojos on top of the poles they work great

All I can say is my neighbor to the West built a house for his parents and asked for a powerline easement through my back pasture. He even offered to put it underground ($$$$$). I said I'd give him the easement as long as he ran overhead powerline. The powerline crosses about a 10-acre "finger" off the back of my place and is a dove magnet, running straight east/west between my sunflowers and his tank.

The Hailey Ranch near Abilene has the fake powerlines. It helps the dove stage. His are serious and very long. Real telephone poles and very long. Also helps around watering holes.

I put up a wire about 30 yards long 6 foot height 25 yards from where I sit in the shade. I stood up a dead tree on one end
