I have about five guys going Dove hunting for the 1st time. I am located in the DFW area. I can't decide if should book a hunt for them in Wichita Falls, TX or in Hondo, TX. I have been to WF, so I know there will be alot of Doves there, however I know that Hondo has amazing Dove hunting. What do you guys sugggest? Keep in mind a Hondo hunt will probably be double the price.

If you know theres gonna be birds in WF take them there. Its closer to dfw and will cost less. Once they decide how they like it, possibly plan a south texas trip.

Actually, you never know the birds will be there till you get there. It's here today, gone tomorrow, so many times. From Houston, I'd rather drive to Hondo than WF.

Go west it's closer to dfw, later in the season go south gives birds the time to migrate.

if you're booking an opening weekend hunt for 5 spots I'd think you need to hurry. those are probably filling up.

I've heard the Hondo area fields are reliably good. I don'tknow anything about the Wichita falls area.

@Kweber; I recently moved to Houston, but all of my friends still live in Dallas.

Check out the Abilene area too, Coleman never disappoints when it comes to birds.
