Have been spending my week in Cody Wyoming while visiting Yellowstone (whole other topic there but I don't have pics, they are on my wife's camera and amazing) and had some down time today so I went to visit the Cody firearms experience, a shooting range with a variety of guns to shoot. Had a blast!

My son and I shot a Springfield 45-70 trapdoor which was used by many to kill buffalo in the west but also used by Custers troops during the battle of the bighorn, then shot the Winchester yellow boy lever action repeating rifle used by many in the west, followed by the single action six shooter Colt .45, and ended with 40 rounds through a Gatling gun.

Let me just say we had a blast. All the guns shot surprisingly easy, and was an eye opening experience to what the old dudes had to shoot with regard to recoil (I was a little worried about the 45-70, but it wasn't any worse than a 30-06). If you ever get out to Cody Wyoming, I highly recommend this place as a fun coupe hours to spend some time.

Wow! Sounds like a great time. Loves those old cowboy guns. Thanks for sharing.

sounds like an awesome day!!

for a while now I've been wanting to go up to Cody for the John Linebaugh seminar. when I get the chance to go I also plan on spending a day or two at the Cody firearms museum and doing the Cody firearms experience.
