Any experiences or opinions on the Super Slam lineup of Weaver scopes? I'm a Leupold fanboi and have several VX3 and VXR scopes, and a Mk4. I thoroughly love them as a company and their products. I have a Weaver Super Slam 1-5 on my AR308 and have no issues with it. Optics are very clear, controls are solid, and it so far has been very durable bouncing around in the ATV.

I'm looking at the Super Slam 2-10x42 because I found them for $280 at Natchez. Any reason I shouldn't try them a 2nd time?

For a hunting scope, they are hard to beat. I have a few of them.

If you are dealing with Natchez, be sure to ask them WHERE the scope is manufactured. Natchez has a rich history of offering Weaver scopes made in the Philippines (at reduced prices) on the heels of the excellent ones made in Japan.

If made in Japan, the scope likely came out of the LOW (Light Optics Works) and should be of excellent quality.

Call and ask them. The price seems too low.

I have a 1.5 x 4.5 x 24mm Classic Extreme and a 3 x 15 x 50 Super Slam (both made in Japan) and am very happy with both.

I bought a Weaver Classic Extreme 1.5-4.5x24 of Natchez couple years ago for a Marlin 1894 44mag. Realized after it was made in the Phillipines. Glass is decent, illuminated dot in the crosshairs doesn't always come on. Decent scope for what I use it for, probably would buy a Leupold or Burris if I did it again.

Shoot. Eat. Repeat.

I have an original Weaver Classic Extreme that was made in Japan, excellent scope. I also bought a couple more from Natchez, after inspecting them I called Natchez and asked about their Classic Extreme scopes since they are clearly marked made in the Philippines. They didn't know what to say,so I spent a while on the phone with several people at Weaver and finally got the facts about the scope that Natchez is selling as a closeout.
Weaver produces the scope for Natchez as an exclusive deal,it's not a "real" Classsic Extreme scope it is made in the same place as Weaver's Kaspa series. It does have the Japanese lenses, but it's not the same quality scope as the original CE scope. The ones I bought have an extreme amount of eye relief over the original scope, almost too much eye relief for a rifle scope.

Weaver shouldn't have done this with their products, and I no longer trust buying any optics from Natchez Shooters Supply. They knowingly mislead customers selling sub-standard products that they call closeouts, when it actually is just a cheaper made version of the original product.

They have also sold a version of the Weaver Super Slam scope that isn't a real Super Slam. It has capped turrets just like the Classic Extreme, but the scope says it's a Super Slam!

Buyer Beware when buying optics from Natchez!!!!

Beware of weaver. They are not the same company they were before the freedom group buy out. Good friend of mine was a loyal weaver tactical buyer until the last warranty issue resulted in them (weaver) losing his scope and not doing one damn thing about it.

Very interesting. Thanks for all the responses. I just got off the phone with Natchez and the Super Slams I was looking at are indeed made in the Philippines.

Looks like I'll just stick with my tried and trued Leupold VX3, especially since now there's a new VX3i. Btw, my Super Slam 1-5 is made in Japan. Pfew! Close call haha
