I know there were some recent changes in the laws regarding automatic knives but I cant find much on double edge knives. I know they use to be illegal but not sure if that was changed as well or not.
So my question is this: Are double edge knives legal in Texas now?

Texas State law only lists "illegal knives." Those include things like double edged knives, Bowie knives, swords, spears or any blade over 5 1/2 inches. State law only permits those to be carried on a person's own premises or in their car.

So what about something like one of the Microtech OTF knives that is double edged?

It almost seems like they legalized a deployment method without legalizing blade designs such as dagger, double edge, stiletto, etc. which are found in a lot of these automatic knives.

So my question is this: Are double edge knives legal in Texas now? No, that would be a dagger unless it was comically small. The Texas Penal Code does not have a definition of "dagger". The current legal standard is case law from Armendariz v. State, 396 S.W.2d 132 (Tex. Crim. App. 1965). A knife slightly over seven inches in length when open, equipped with a double guard, blade that locks open and is sharpened on both sides of blade for over an inch meets the definition of a dagger but is not limited to this definition either.
