Looking for a place around Temple to hog hunt. New to Texas but have hog hunted my whole life. I guess on Ft. Hood they keep the population down so I'm trying to see what else is out there.

Public land is your cheapest option, or pay for a guided hunt.

There are plenty of hogs on ft hood. Start your search on the north side of Belton lake in the TAs in the 20s

I talked to a Game Warden the other day and he said very few people take hogs out of Hood because they trap them year round.

they do trap but that doesn't mean there aren't lots of hogs. I've had game can pics of 20 plus at one time and other pics of multiple lone boars. They just shut down the SE region to trap hogs and got I think around 300 but that's a very small portion of Ft Hood. Ft hood is over 200K acres and trust me there are lots of pigs. Not to mention a lot of people who kill them prob don't take them to the game check station or just leave them laying.
