What do you guys pay for flight conditioned quail? What is a normal price for guide with dog? I'm in palo pinto county and as a kid was able to enjoy quail hunting. Now they are gone. My boy always talked about it and wanted to raise some so I built him a 4000 sq ft flight pen. He wants to do some hunts next year and sell some hunts next year but he told me he seems to think he will make more money just selling to the public. Just looking for opinions but regardless I want him to experience some hunts behind dogs.

$325 apiece down here, for a morning or evening hunt(minimum of 3 people). Twenty birds released per person.

So your son has never hunted Quail but is going to sell guided hunts?
Haven't had it in years but never spit any out. I am a sucker for happy endings and strapped cowboys.

No but after reading my post that's the way I made it sound. My son is 13 and we will have the quail and the land. We do not have dogs. I was wondering what someone would charge to bring their dogs in for a hunt.

With there being so many wild birds out there again, I think you are going to be hard pressed to sell many preserve bird hunts. There is no comparison to hunting wild vs. pen raised. Also, with so many wild birds, I can't see where your market or demand is going to come from. It is great that you and your son want to work on this project together, but why not raise bird dogs and train them and buy enough birds to train with.

We still don't have quail on our place so now I'll have some for us. You may be right about hard to sell but with the interest that has been shown I'm thinking the quail population is good out west but not good east

I knew a man who made a small fortune on pen raised quail. It was easy. He started with a large fortune.

That's probably true bill but my boy seems to have it figured out to. Dad takes care of the expenses and he takes the profit. I'm actually just joking about that. I did have the initial investment but it's up to him now. Win or lose he's working hard and enjoying it.
