Who hunts hogs in the mornings during the summer. I won't Hunt them at night during the summer. I get there right at daylight when it is cool sometimes me and the hog gets there at the same time and I shoot them on the spot and sometimes I wait for a couple hours. Summer is my favorite time to hunt hogs for that reason. And also when you are waiting for them you can look at stuff unlike night when it's dark and can't see anything.

I thought you could only take hogs in months that have an R in them. No wait that's oysters.
Seriously, I have heard about leaving in summer because of all the pests they carry in warm weather.

Wait, there are folks that don't hunt them in summer? What?
Ron H, what pests do hogs have that are warm weather only?

Before I could drive I would hunt them at night but after I could drive I just go in the morning during the summer since I can get there and leave when I want. I have shot more in the morning than at night anyway

If hunt summer and you butcher, get on ice quickly and cool down the meat.

If hunt summer and you butcher, get on ice quickly and cool down the meat. I'd say this is an important point. When it is 25 degrees outside you can take your time skinning and cleaning, you probably don't want to spend an hour and a half on one pig when it is 100 degrees outside.

It's not so much for comfort as it is making sure the meat doesn't get to hot so it doesn't start to go bad.

Then work your way down and around to pull off the hind quarters, throw on ice. If it hasn't been 30 minutes already take the front quarters too if you want, but I usually don't when it's 95+ plus outside.

I hunt them when ever I can. However we mostly scout for sign during the day and hunt during the dark to early morning hours. Doesn't hurt that I and my hunting partners have thermal and night vision to hunt with.

For Mr the summer night hunts don't even begin until 10 or 11. I like to stalk water holes during the day. Morning sounds like a plan

I hunt all year, whenever I can, and in the summer I find mornings often work best. In the really hot months the hogs often don't come out until well after dark, when the heat dissipates a bit. I think because they get a late start, they often stay out past daylight to make up for the lost time. One nice thing about shooting hogs in the early daylight hours is that I then get to skin them in the daytime instead of having to do it by an artificial light at night. It's just a little easier, and I'm all about making things easier!
I have two unwritten rules: 1. 2.

I love to summer hunt over water. Everything comes and gets a drink about 2:30-4:30 pm. I set up a chair blind under a shade tree and just watch what shows up. I have seen more animals over water than any bait station. That is my favorite hunt and time to hunt.
