Question please...what do you do with all the hogs after you kill them. I've just started to have about 12 big hogs with several little piggies begin to come into one of my feeders. If I am lucky enough to get a few, what do I do next. I can't eat them all. Bury them or what?

Drag them in the brush. Coyotes and buzzards will make short work of them.

Just move them to an area where you don't care if coyotes come in, because you can have scavengers clean up several big hogs within a week or shorter. Coyotes gotta eat too, and buzzards, and bugs, and maggots.....you get the point. They will be gone within short time if you just leave them above ground.

The problem with burying them is that you may end up with a giant hole when the coyotes decide to dig them up.

Nope, set up a "bone yard" area to drag them to, as suggested. You can just leave them, but I find that if you split open their bellies, they go faster.

My 230 lb hog was gone the day after I shot it. I don't know where it went. It probably got dragged off into the high grass where I could not see it, but it disappeared, LOL. It took a couple of days for the 270 lb hog to vanish, but it did as well. No doubt, I will come across the bones in the fall when the high grass dies back. These are hogs I cut open. Some hogs that I have not cut open have taken days before getting breached and then usually I end up with a partial skeleton and hide left behind where bugs did most of the work and not coyotes and buzzards.

If it's not too hot, too cold, too late, I'm not too tired, the pig is not too big, too small, or too smelly, I take the back straps. That is under 5 minutes a pig.

Otherwise, I still slit them all the way down the spine. That lets the scavengers make quicker work of them.

BTW: shooting coyotes over them the next night has some entertainment value also.

Circle of life as others have suggested. While I don't kill as many as some do on this forum, I still shoot too many to process/eat.

I give away what I don't want... If I have no takers the off to the bone yard they go.

Take em to the bone pile and leave them....

It's not hard to just kill what you can eat. You don't have to stay out all night that way

Generally we're able to process most of the hogs we shoot. The carcasses go to one of about three designated Turkey Vulture Feeding Areas. On the few occasions when we've managed to shoot more than we can cut up, we drag them to the fence line if they're in a pasture, otherwise we move them to high ground in the woods and leave them.

The big and nasty go to the boneyard and the smaller ones go to the BBQ pit.
