Hello.
A friend who hunt with dogs are in need use locators for some of his dogs disappear during a hunt for wild boar and are found within two days and cause much concern.
I'm researching a functional and reliable system to inform you but among some who found the garmin star seems to be the most reliable. But it also has a high cost to import to Brazil.
Can anyone tell about this system with necklaces garmin? They have many defects and are quite sturdy?
Is there any other brand that works well and is not as expensive?
Grateful.

Not much cheaper
The Garmin is a solid system, no experience with this one but someone will chime in who does

There is time, and you must take it, to lay your hand on your dog's head as you walk past him lying on the floor or on his settle, time to talk with him, to remember with him, time to please him, time you can't buy back once he's gone" GBE

I use the Garmin Alpha and hunt 6 dogs on the ground at a time. The handheld shows me where they are and how far. The only time this system was not effective was when we were hunting jaguar in Chetumal, Mexico. The dense rain forest with huge, heavy canopy.
To my knowledge, their is not a better system on the market. You can also train as well as track.
Adios,
Gary

I use the Garmin Astra 320/T5 for one dog mainly because my other half is afraid of losing her. My range on full set of batteries is about 9 miles. I also use it to calculate area for food plots. It's strictly a locator no training. My dog is a 90 lb chocolate lab and she has wandered about 1000 yrds on my place. The T5 will let you know if they are stationary, pointing, walking or running. I do have coyotes and bobcats on the place so if she is stationary for any length of time...i'm on her.
