Anyone hunted out here? I'm considering leasing land near Linden. Never hunted that far east, but hear poaching/trespassing is a big problem. Want to know what I'm potentially getting into...

I had 2 different leases in Cass County for a few years. One of them was just north of Hughes Springs. Lots of trespassers on this one. We only had a camera and a ladder stolen, but there were people riding all over the place. One evening when I got through hunting, I was walking back from my blind and had a couple of guys almost run me over on the trail in a UTV. I had a rifle with me and the thought did briefly cross my mind, but knew that was the wrong way to handle things. My buddy was at the front gate and he said that they were headed for the gate then saw him and turned off of the main trail in the lease and took off. We also heard gunshots nearly every night from all over the place.
Our second lease was closer to Daingerfield and we had no problems at all there. We even felt comfortable enough to leave our campers there. We did not leave them on the first lease. we stored them just down the road and would pick them up on the way in.
Probably not much help, but that's my story.

Depends on how big a lease and lease around you!

My family owns 250 acres near hwy 11 halfway between Linden and Hughes Springs. We've never had any trespass trouble but there is a local land owner that keeps an eye on things for us. A few decent bucks have been taken on that property over the years. We do have a pig problem though. Our property is bordered by a timber company that leases there land for hunting and we've never had a problem with those folks either.

Hunted there and have good friends who grew up around there.

I had constant poacher problems wile hunting there. There are very good deer in the area and no shortage of them.

If it's a good sized place with owners living on it or nearby it can work out well.

I would never lease a small place with small neighbors. bolt
