17 days til I get to return to the great state of Texas for a few days of hunting and a little R&R. I am excited despite it being only a javelina hunt (I have never even seen one, much less had the chance to hunt them). We are flying in to San Antonio where we will hook up with Captain Ryan Longer of Longer Outdoors and Aaron Laine of Brush & Bay Outfitters. I have had the opportunity to hunt with Ryan before and we have become friends, I am very much looking forward to meeting Aaron. Even though we are only booked for javelinas I am hopeful with not 1 but 2 outfitters we may have an opportunity to go after some sort of exotic if time allows it. I am bringing my 300wsm for just such an opportunity. I plan on using mt 6.5 Creedmore for the javas. I will post a review and (if all goes well) photos as soon as I get back home. I have never been to Texas in May so I am hoping it wont be to hot for me, but the beers will be cold and the company good, so I will make the best of it

Good hunting. I'm looking forward to your hunt report. Our deer lease is overrun with them. Haven't shot one yet, but I probably need the quintessential "viscous" open mouthed javelina mount before I die, if I see a big boar.

I'm a born and raised San Antonio boy, so Welcome.

I could not agree more, and he makes you feel that way from the moment you meet up until you shake hands and head off for home. Truly one of my best hunting trips was with Ryan and his crew. Not only did we get great animals but he just goes the extra mile. He showed us animals I had never seen and was happy to take us out for a little predator hunting too. Not to mention GREAT FOOD!

Looking forward to your review & pix lab! And I don't think it will be too hot for you.... Aside from the hail storm a few days ago the weather has been beautiful! Happy Hunting!

If you get around Bandera come by and see me. I am not trying to sell you any Ibex but you can look at them if you want. And you can see some very good looking country.

Lab... You may want to make a point of getting to Bandera.... And take Don k up on his offer... His place is beautiful and in the hour & a half I spent there I learned lots about Ibex and met some of the prettiest bottle babies ever. It's a great experience. Thanks again don k!

And just like that everything has taken a weird (albeit awesome)turn. My hunting partner has decided he can't fly all the way to Texas and just shoot a javelina. We have been in contact with both Aaron Laine & Ryan Longer and I believe the new target is nilgai. I have no idea if I will even be hunting other then a little predator shooting at night, but it will be great to see (and if possible) hunt these awesome animals. I have heard these are tough animals and are AMAZING table fare so even if I never touch my rifle I will be able to take part in an awesome hunt and I think I can talk my partner out of a steak or 2 for me and my wife!
