Just acquired a P229 in 357sig. Have a little brass. Need some dies. Anybody have a suggestion ? Know this may be tricky one so wanted to make sure I get some that work smoothly. Thanks

Do a internet search for 357 Sig Dies and you'll get a whole bunch of sources!

Just be sure you have ample neck tension on your brass to hold the bullet firmly in place. The bullet can easily be pushed back in the bottle necked case of the 357 Sig. If it does, your pressure will spike. Loading 357 Sig is a little tricky, so make sure you do it correctly.

Well, I don't think it will be the dies, per se, but how you crimp and reload them. Use minimal case mouth flare before seating, and use a HEAVY crimp after bullet seating (crimp separately from seating). I knew of several experienced reloaders had issues with the 357 Sig. Some common problems are the case shoulder buckling during bullet seating if you try to keep the neck tension too tight. If it's too loose, the bullet wants to move, so a heavy crimp is needed. All the major die mfg should be about the same for sizing, but get a good Lee factory crimp die, or similar crimp die to run. You will need to play with the loading process to make sure you can not move the bullet at all after it's loaded. The 357 Sig is a very high pressure round (38K to 45K psi, depending on who's numbers you go by) and will be +P+ easily if the bullet is seated deeper by being pushed into the case. I won't reload this round for this reason, and the varying cases of 357 Sig.

+1 on the factory crimp die for it, I had a P239 for a while and reloaded for it very little for the reasons Chad mentioned. Heck have had factory loads where the bullets got pushed back in the brass cycling them, those were Speer Gold dots which I liked the performance of but was always worried about pressure with them if a bullet got pushed back in the case on chambering it, which I know happened on at least 2. Hot little round and know it can work on deer at shorter ranges.

Have about 500 rinds of range pickup brass if your interested. I'm not reloading for it due to the above reasons. Have a g33 and sig nightmare chambered in it.
