That is pretty expensive for a kit blind. I built 3- 4'x6'blinds out of treated lumber and hardiboard siding with windows and paint for the cost of one kit. Mine were not insulated though. You can buy a fiberglass 4'x6' blind for about that much already finished also if you shop around.

Interesting. It is an aluminum skinned blind which should last forever.

Like ranchman said it seems to be a little hi being you have to put it together yourself.

You can get a very nice nice blind that's already built for that price.

Agree to a small point, but it will likely outlast many home and store bought blinds, with minimal maintenance. It is a retail product, so it probably is priced right for what and where it is. I haven't priced like watertight low maintenance blinds like fiberglass, how do they compare to price?

As far as having to put it together....Ever buy a swingset for your kids? I'd rather put 5 of these blinds together, over 1 swingset!!

For many folks that have the cash and lack the time,or know how to build their own, this is probably a decent alternative that will outlast most (if it has build quality) and still have some resale value.

My blinds are water tight and very low maintenance for what I have in them. I have not had to do anything to them yet in 3.5 yrs. You build a good homemade blind, caulk the seams, use a good paint and it will last 25 yrs. With any blind it will need paint again at some point. I can build one in a weekend and I am not a carpenter but do have the basic knowledge. What I did before I built mine was look at as many blinds that were for sale as I could that were already made so I could see what I could use to make mine. I also have hunted in a enough blinds to know what I wanted and how I wanted it built. I did not use any plans to speak off, just thought things out ahead of time.
Not far from me a guy is building 4x6' blinds made very similar to mine and selling them for about half what these are being sold for. There are blinds on here being built and sold for much less than that price. You can buy one of the Cedar Blinds with a tower that you see on here for a little less than this price also. Those blinds can be taken apart and moved then put back up also. The basic 4x6' blind is a lot less than this blind. Even for the guy who has the money but no time, getting a custom built blind will still be cheaper most of the time.

Funny, was going to say it looks like a shadow hunter then I clicked the link and sure enough it is. Had two in the past delivered that were already completed. One was an 1800.00 6x6 and the other was a 1400.00 4x6. They are great blinds and actually kept bugs and wasps out. Kind of pricey but for those of us without capentry skills they can be a decent alternative.

Don't disagree with you one bit STX, but I don't think you fall into "novice" territory. Like you, I build the few I have used, my 8'x8' I have now, I built and used steel I already had for the 12' base, so I probably have around $500 in it. It is 4 years old and in great shape, but I will have to maintain it with more regularity than I would with an all AL sided blind. Also, I used the cheaper flip up windows made by deerview, I doubt they would compare to the ones in this blind.

I would bet this blind isn't even sold in every state, unless it is by order, I think the sales range is limited by hunting style in sales areas. I still think for some folks, it is an easy "turn key" blind they can get that for sure will last for a while. Another plus, is for folks that have a Home Depot credit card, they can take a promo offer and finance it out a few months with no interest.

I spent a year one day putting together a kids swing set - never again! It was a horrible experience

Build your own and get what you want. Like STX, I prefer to build it the way I want it and with no plans, I just use simple math and a little common sense when its working for me. I always have at least one of my sons with me if not both of them so a 4x6 can get small quick. 6x8, 7x7, 7x8, and 8x8 I've built all of them, because I build mine somewhat modular for transport and ease of setting up the 7x8 is what I find the easiest to work with so it goes together exactly how it was test fitted to the base. 7x7 and 8x8 can be a pain to assemble if not labelled properly, even though the dimensions seem easy after you build it in place and take it apart each wall will be minutely different. Use deer view windows, there great and save alot of time.

I posted the add to see reactions to it. I'm thinking that Home Depot is testing the market with this blind. I've not seen any advertising for it until recently and most of that has been on FACEBOOK. And, judging from the responses here on THF, the consensus is that the kit is too high priced, especially since it is a DIY blind! Haven't seen one at either of the Home Depot stores here in Waco, but maybe this summer they might put one out for demo. If they were to reduce the price about $250, then the market would probably accept it much better.

Home Depot has also been advertising STORM SHELTERS lately, and from I've seen on those, they are on the high side, too!

Well see what the blinds and the shelters do in about 90 days!
