Hey guys,

I'm wanting to sell this S&W 38 special to fund a new purchase, but I don't know much about, so I was hoping one of you could help me out. I was hoping to try and figure out when it may have been made, and how much it's worth.

This was a pistol from my dad who died 1976. I am trying to see if anyone can tell me what I have and if someone has an interest in this type and age pistol. Left side of the barrel I can see imprint 38 special and U S service ctg. On trigger the #27 on right side and bottom of barrel.

Front of trigger guard the word Spain. Top of barrel wording partly rubbed smooth the imprint. Best American cart AE revolver.

On butt the # 9536. Thanks for your help and I hope someone has a little knowledge of this type pistol.

It could possibly be a "Victory" revolver WWII era. Is there a "V" at the bottom of the butt ?
