Went out Friday night with my friend. We spent 4 hours in a blind. Thank goodness for the buddy heater we had or we would not have been able to stay that long.

We were seeing lots of rabbits a possum, skunk and a few coyotes that were not giving us a shot. Finally I let the peditor call go off for a few mins and 5 mins later in comes this big coyote. He goes down where he stood.

We decided to wait it out till midnight as we were seeing a big boar come in between 9pm and midnight on the gam cam. As right at 11:30 here he comes. He detected the dead coyote and stopped to check him out. His mistake. My buddy James took the shot hitting him in the neck. He ran and got a second shot right behind the shoulder and continued to run. We looked at each other is shock. We heard both shots hit him. We took our time breaking down out setup and loaded James in the trailer since his wheelchair was still sinking in the wet soil. We went to pick up the coyote and I scanned the field behind us and there was the boar about 250 yards away.

Amazing that that hog could take 2 hits from a 168gr Amax. One just behind the ear and one that hit both lungs and still run that far.

Well done!!! The coyote isn't exactly a slouch either!

Awesome!

I am always amazed at far a hog can run after being mortally wounded. Had one once run over 100 yrds with a golfball sized exit hole just behind the front shoulder. It did make blood tracking easy though lol

Congrats on the hunt!

I use both a thermal monocular and scope on all my hunts. Once you do a thermal hunt you won't want to go back to anything less.

Here is a link to my video from the hunt the week before:
