If you give short enough areas for fawns to access your penned protein feeder have you had pig issues? Does anyone make sure the fawns can get to protein if wanted? I'm going to pen as much area as I can, hopefully a minimum of 10 or 12 panels but would love to swing a few more.

IME when fawns are big enough to jump a 34" hog panel they are big enough to eat of the tube style protein feeders. Does not do a fawn any good to jump into a pen if it can't eat out of a 37"-39" high tube. I saw some research that was done on hogs and panel height, it said that either 26" or 28" was the minimum height for almost all hogs and still allow fawn/young deer access.
I use 34" tall hog panels and my protein feeder tube height is 33". Fawns can't easily eat when they are finally able to jump in.

Thank you, I knew you would have some personal experience. I just wasnt sure if it would be worth it or necessary to have a lower tube for fawns or not. Was planning on the 34" panels but wasn't sure if I should make a few places lower for fawn access but sounds more like, when they are ready to get in, that's when they get the protein. BTW, love the pics you post. I always play the age game with your pics as I continue to try to improve my deer aging. I was fooled this year by some post mature deer that looked young everywhere except belly and shoulders.
