What is your preferred gun for rabbit hunting?

I like using a rifle I plan to use for hunting larger game, deer, hog, etc. It is very good practice, can hit a jack, can hit a buck.
As a "real" rabbit gun, a Ruger 10/22.

I haven't hunted rabbits since I was a teenager, but back then we always hunted at night with a light and a .22 rifle.

I have two unwritten rules:
1.
2.

M&P Shield or full size, both in 9mm. Very hard but lots of fun!

If I am only hunting cottontails I usually carry my .22 over 20GA Savage Campers Companion. If I know hunting will be in real close quarters I have an old Savage four tenner insert I can slip into the 20GA barrel to convert it to 410.

17 mach 2 converted 10/22 is my go to rabbit/squirrel gun. With ammo getting hard to find. The savage FVT sees a lot more time.

Been a rabbit hunter all of my life. Grew up using a 22 rifle, single shot 4/10, 20 gauge, pump 20 gauge, 12 gauge, or 22 cal air rifle (.177 too). My go to for many years now is my 22 cal High Standard pistol shooting HP ammo. Many of rabbit meals have been taken with a 22 HP to the head. Strap on a head lamp and get some.

Ancient (50+ years) bolt action Mossie with a couple of chokes that screw on, in .410 and #6 shot. Lots of bunnies in the pot with this old rig.

In the past, my Remington 572. Now that I am really liking the Savage 24C in 22LR/20 ga, it may be the one for small game

I don't have a picture of it with rabbits, but I like to use my grandpa's old Iver Johnson Champion 12 gauge with low brass #4's. It only takes two or three pellets to knock them down and the meat is not loaded with shot. Plus, there is just something cool about using my grandpa's old gun.

I like 22 short HP for rabbits, so it is either the Remington 552 or Winchester 62A. Those were my Dad's guns and that 552 has killed lots of squirrels and rabbits, the 62 is one I gave him later in his life that he had lots of fun with the turtles in his tank.

For shotguns, rabbits are the only thing I breakout the Ivory Johnson Champion 20ga that was my Great Grandfathers, have owned that one sense I was 3 years old, and still remember him giving it to me.

Stevens Model 77F in .410, inherited from my wife's great-uncle. I was told he got it from his grandfather. It's older than I am, and I'm 48. No telling how much game has been brought down with this old gun. I use it for doves, too.

Palehorse I think I've got one similar to yours, it's got a 36" barrel. I think mine says "White Powder" on the barrel.

Just a .177 break barrel airgun. I like the Stoeger X10 a lot, little shorter barrel and very handy. It is the gun that got me into pellet guns as an adult. I also like the gamo hornet a lot, because it's a very lightweight and handy little air rifle. The last squirrel I got was on a fishing trip, just happened to have the gamo hornet with me for fun/plinking. Both of them are cheap, can be had under $100, and accurate enough to 30 or 40 yards for bunnies and squirrels.
